I really needed that. It's surprising how difficult it is to say anything more complicated than "See Dick run" without the particles to connect or nuance verbs and nouns.

Do you guys have a video about the contraction of these words with pronouns (I.e. from me / ממני)?
@HebrewPod101
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Vanalovan, Thanks for posting. Yes, in more advanced lessons we deal with the topic of pronouns. This is a complicated topic in Hebrew teaching as Hebrew grammar is different from the typical Germanic and many words can't be seen as a parallel translation. Enjoy learning Hebrew with us! Yours, Roi Team HebrewPod101.com

These are more like adpositions than particles. I was sort of expecting to learn words like 'et', which is a particle that cannot be directly translated into English, but denotes the direct object of a sentence. Another particle example is the japanese 'wa/ga' that marks the subject or topic of a sentence.

Can the particle עם also be used in the sense of "by means of", as in "I build a house with a hammer"?
@HebrewPod101
5 жыл бұрын
Hi BookwormLi, Thanks for posting! Well, this is a common way of speech nowadays, but actually, the answer is no. In correct Hebrew, one should use either the word "באמצעות" or "בעזרת" which can be translated as "by means of" or "by the help of". Enjoy learning Hebrew! Yours, Roi Team hebrewPod101.com

You sometimes write 'kh' and sometimes 'ch' (and I've seen Hebrew transliterate the kh sound as h). Are these letters pronounced the same? (i.e. pronounced like Scottish loch or German Buch?)

Would you please explain the rules for using the pronouns הם הן הוא היא after the subject and before the predicate in a sentence? Some say these pronouns serve as a link to a predicate adjective (as in The birds are beautiful, or כלבים וחתולים הם חיות מחמד), others say they link to a predicate noun (as in Biden is president, or ביידן הוא נשיא ), others say it's not at all necessary (הברווזים יפים ) and some online learning programs are inconsistent.
