I saw it in the theater with my cousin the first time. I had seen Reservoir Dogs and convinced him that we needed to watch this. We were quoting the movie all the way home. When Vincent shot Marvin we exploded laughing. I looked around and everyone else had this shocked look on their faces, which made us laugh more. I don't think I've had a better time at the theatre since.

I don't remember why my friends and I went to see it, it wasn't my idea, but we did and it's one of the movies I have the most vivid memories of seeing. I'll never forget Roth near the end shouting "Garcon, coffee" and realizing "ohhh shit, this is where we began." I'd never seen a movie do that (I had not seen Reservoir Dogs yet either). I remember being at a small handful of movies where the audience clapped at the end, I can't say for sure but this may have been one of them.

This was sold as a big comeback for Travolta at the time (it was). But it was also a decent comeback for Bruce Willis after a few early 90s misfires and a huge career boost for Thurman and Jackson. I'd say the latter two benefitted the most.

For some odd reason, in my head cannon, I always thought up or came up with the notion that the katana that Butch pulled from the wall in the pawn shop was Bud's Hatori Hanzo sword from Kill Bill Vol 2. Now I know what you are thinking, and that Bill said to Elle that Bud pawned it off for 250.00. Not to make note that the Kill Bill movies were made long after Pulp Fiction (PF in 1994 and KB 1 & 2 were in 2003 and 2004 respectively) But remember, that again QT's movies are filmed out of sequence but in random places within his universe. So maybe, at one time Bud did pawn off his Hatori Hanzo sword off for beer and cigarettes at some point, but then had second thoughts and bought it out of hock, maybe he had to chase it down for a bit as it had left Texas, and found it's way off to California. Maybe Bud got lucky and managed to pick it up after Butch fled after his attack and saving Marcelous from Zedd. He could had just walked right in, picked up the sword, wiped the blood off and walked out with it before the cops showed up. Just a random thought of my own head cannon.

Good stuff Minty! I just realized watching this that Tarantino was so great at making 'alternate universes'. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction seemed to take place in another world that only looked similar to a major American city. Whereas his later movies tend to try to enforce this 'alternate existence' of Wouldn't It Be Great If.... Hitler was taken out in a movie theater, or Manson's minions were taken out by a couple of Hollywood old standards. Other movies like Dusk Till Dawn, Hateful Eight, and Death Proof are to me 'too out there to be believed'. Not that they're bad movies - but exist in a totally foreign realm that is hard to relate to. But Tarantino shines best when it's characters and settings are something we can relate to, think we may have actually brushed by, and is possible the situation(s) could be happening at any moment near us today or tomorrow or maybe last week. Which I think Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction does in spades!

The brief case represents desire, just as Quinten Tarantino said himself whatever's in the Briefcase whatever you think it is whatever you desire is in the case and the gold light is to represent that it's what you want the most making the Briefcase a symbol for greed and desire

This is the kicker. The colors of the case the combo the light that's the light that shines in the darkness. You could have it any way you want it. Just remember that want comes with payment when and when payment is do you meet the Equalizers. I am Lucid I see behind the veil.

I'm too literal for interpretations like that. Same as movies with huge plot holes...can't freaking stand that bs. "oh you have to ignore them and enjoy the movie" nope.

Heard that Christopher Walken done “The gold watch” scene in one take. “Hhhe hid it!, it the one place he knew he could hide something...his ass! 5 long years he wore this watch, up his ass. He died of dysentery. He gimme the watch, I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass 2 years. And after 7 years I was sent home to my family. Now, little man, I give the watch to you!” 😳😳

I can see Matt Dillon pulling off the role of Butch...but Sylvester Stallone was also a choice for the role and he would've done way better than Matt Dillon...and considering the Rocky movies Stallone as the a boxer in Pulp Fiction would've been badass. Nothing against Willis tho...he had his usual tough guy attitude like in the Die Hard films,Last Boy Scout, and much more of his other earlier films.

The scene that still gets me to this very day is when Uma Thurman's character gets stabbed through the chest and in the heart with the adrenaline needle... The first time I saw the scene I'm thinking "Wouldn't it kill her? because she just got stabbed in the heart." Even if it is an adrenaline injection... Or was she able to regain consciousness because that the magic of making movies as the old saying goes "Only in the movies." Or "It's a movie, anything can happen." Tell me what you guys.

Very well done Minty! And props for pointing out Rob Ager. He's a great film analyst, as are you. Although his analyses are more psychological. You always tend to hit a nostalgic, nerve and it's nice to see that we can all share similar understanding of the films we love. I'd like to see your take on 2002's "The Secretary", since it's near to my heart.
