The Stanford Cardinal clinched the 1999 Pac-10 championship and sewed up a Rose Bowl bid with a 31-13 victory over the California Golden Bears in the 102nd Big Game.
Stanford fullback Casey Moore rushed for two touchdowns, including a 94-yard run in the fourth quarter that effectively put the game out of reach at 28-13. It remains the longest running play in Big Game history as well as the second longest run in Stanford history.
With injuries and transfers forcing Cal to play walk-on quarterback Wes Dalton, Stanford was able to shut out the Golden Bear offense. Cal's two touchdowns came on special teams as Deltha O'Neal scored on a kickoff return and a punt return.
O'Neal also intercepted a pass but otherwise was unable to contain Stanford star wide receiver Troy Walters, who caught six passes for 126 yards.
