As a young lad who had time but no money I spend hours modifying a head to Visards plans. I would not let my father do the valve seats insisting it went to get proper 3 angle seats. Imagine my horror when I saw the valves perfectly pocketed about 1mm deep into the head. I gave up and used another standard head but my father took it and milled the whole surface back 1mm and we then blended it in and skimmed it back to correct volume. Wow that head worked really well. 30 years later I have a head for my Midas and considering how to progress....

The a-series responds well to simple mods because the heads are so poor to start with. Any sensible mods will make more power, you need to consider what you want from your engine when deciding how much work is needed on your future head project

Is it getting a turbo? How much larger are combustion chambers, 15cc~20cc?

This was not for a turbo application. If you watch the videos chamber volumes will be discussed.

Hi AC, Great video as always. Could I ask what speed your Bosch die grinder runs at please? Kind regards and thank you for the informative content. Nigel.

@@ACDodd Thanks AC, I have an oldish Hitachi grinder with a similar speed and was concerned that the surface speed with a largish stone might be too high, so that’s reassuring. Good quality mounted stones needed though I imagine!
