Valliere is a good example of pure strength and the use of stabilizing/accessory muscles. If you look at his upper back when he gets off the bench, you immediately notice his upper back/traps. Alot of power comes from those muscles. I knew a guy in college who was built similar to Valliere; he was probably 180-185 lbs. and didn't carry any extra weight. He could bench 425-450. The guy didn't have a huge chest or huge arms, but his rear delts, traps, upper back were really developed.

let this be a motivational video to those out there playing sports and lift. Ive played football varsity football all four years in highschool and didnt start till my junior year but worked my ass off for it. This dudes worked his ass off and does a perfect maxout locking out his arms not bullshitting it and doesnt get up and try to act big. Let this guy be a role model. And to everyone saying he doesnt touch his chest you try lifting near 315 to begin with
@atlaslifting2517
10 жыл бұрын
He came down to within around 2 inches I think, who cares if he doesn't pause? He pushed 500lb from his chest with no spotter touching the bar and no bench shirt and fully extended both arms that's a good ROM. How does one tell a guy lifting 500lb how to "do it properly"
@wazark
10 жыл бұрын
still wouldn't count in powerlifting
@atlaslifting2517
10 жыл бұрын
wazark "After receiving the signal, the lifter must lower the bar to the chest or abdominal area (the bar shall not touch the belt), hold it motionless, after which the Chief referee will signal the audible command “Press”. The lifter must then return the bar to straight arms length elbows locked. When held motionless in this position the audible command “Rack” shall be given together with a backward motion of the arm. If the bar is lowered to the belt and stays on it for 5 seconds the Chief Referee’s command is “rack”." Source: Technical Rules book of the International Powerlifting Federation I see nothing about any time limit, he didn't hold the bar motionless so what? there was no referee there. I suspect the only reason a competitive powerlifter touches his chest doing this is to show the judges that he has used a full ROM much like the only reason a powerlifter only ever hyper-extends on a deadlift in competition is to show they judges they've locked. tl;dr That's a bad ass 500lb press with above decent form expected for benching that amount of weight, and he's in a gym not a meet.

Do you know what 10 million is? And if he had the crazy rare genetics that would allow him to bench 500 naturally, don't you think he would be tempted to start taking steroids and go for the world record? In that case the simplest answer is the correct one, he takes 'em juices.

bigrich0086 No, increased range of contraction is superior for both hypertrophy and strength development; this 90 degrees of elbow flexion is a completely arbitrary point. Touching the chest only increases propensity for injury if the lifter is not properly tucking the elbows. I've gone up to 500 on a 2 board press (3 inches above the chest) and 520 in a slingshot.

The form is objectively bad. It's a partial rep with no pause and a jerky lockout. When people critique form, the question should be "would it get white lights at a meet?" In this case, no, it wouldn't, for any of the reasons I mentioned. It doesn't take the World's Strongest Man to recognize shit form.

Brandon Meszaros A max isn't how much you can do in the gym using partial ROM; it's your best competition lift or strict-form facsimile. Rationalize bad form however you want, but don't expect to not get criticized when you post bad pseudo-lifts on a public website. Yeah, don't listen to the first guy that commented. I'm completely natural, and my bench has gone from 130-280 in a year and a half. Good diet, and lots of work. You'll get there. I don't recommend giving yourself a time limit though. The key to natural lifting is patience. Don't get discouraged if you aren't where you want to be. Anytime you feel like quitting, remember why you started in the first place. Don't lose your drive. Take care, and keep up the good work.

Who even lifts for "the ladies" anyway? Fuck that, if you lift weights just to get girls, you may want to rethink lifting.

therodiaX it seems rare to find someone that does it for the pain of your muscle tearing and the adrenaline you get hitting a PR. Lifting is a great pastime and yet so many treat it as a chore

Zeshan Ali Right... a 19 year old kid benching 500 pounds is completely attainable naturally and theres no reason in the world to question if he's on drugs. What the fuck does having two kids in your school being bigger than him prove? There are kids in high school that are on gear, I knew many at mine who did. I knew a kid that was 17 and built like Lou Ferrigno, he was on gear... If you seriously think this guy is natural, you're a moron.

To those saying he didn't touch chest... In my opinion what he did was actually harder.... It's easier for me when I actually touch the chest. And this arguably... Well I think it's a fact... That not touching chest can keep more tension on the chest
@gillan240
9 жыл бұрын
your an idiot! its easier for you because you bounce it. pause it while maintaining tension on the chest muscles and tell me its easier. If you don't know anything about weightlifting, you should probably just keep your uneducated comments to yourself.

Adam Gillan Telling me how I fucking lift!? You know me or something? You blind!? I've been lifting for over 6 years you little punk... Me in my profile pic... Where the fuck are your pics? I don't bounce shit... If you knew anything about lifting, or the mechanics of benching...You would know that once the bar touches the chest it brings tension off the pectoral muscles... If you only bring the bar an inch or two above the chest... That keeps constant tension on the pectoral muscles. You stupid little fuck... You obviously don't know shit about bodybuilding.. OR lifting anything.. Guarantee you're a scrawny little bitch... Been lifting for a couple months and now think you can talk like you know your shit.. Get the fuck out of here...

is that just the bar??? how much you weigh? how broad are your shoulders? that sounds about right for a beginner...my 245 lb 6 ft little brother can only bench 95 lbs on his first try on bench pressing. in middle school my first time benching my Mac was 80 lbs and I was 162 lb 5 feet 6 inches... beginners weights...

I hit the gym twice a week ( i'm not too big on strength training with weights ) , as a martial artist I get most of my strength training through body weight exerciser, etc. Though I mostly focus on conditioning. I just got to say though, this video was pretty awesome. This dude benched 500 lbs, you could tell he only finished that rep through the sheer force of will at the end ( though he is obviously damn strong as well ) . Pretty impressive, cool vid!

no touch chest no stop at the top.. equals no bench.. sorry, he probably runs the 100 meter dash in 8.5 seconds but downhill and only 85 meters and starts his run when the signal caller says on your mark.. that is the same thing as this. not a real bench we have to have standards
