I can understand that not everyone who owns America's rifle can make it to an armorer class or would want to. That being said, there is no reason you shouldn't have 30 million subs if everyone who owns an ar15 took it somewhat seriously. Your content is by far the most detailed and in-depth I have found. One rifle and one SBR (I put it together myself as I am an 07/02 SOT FFL). Also, there are some other uppers with the FN CHF chrome lined barrel and setup that would be nice to see also. But my guess are the ones I built with various parts will be the more accurate. I have a lot of the same Gunsmith measuring tools as I went to a Gunsmith school for a year. I am certainly not advanced as he is for sure though.

He's autopsied parts from top-tier manufacturers with issues, some pretty severe (barrel not even rifled). Mistakes happen and quality can vary anywhere. I think the single biggest difference between top brands and companies like PSA is their Q&A. Mistakes that happen in manufacturing at a company like PSA is just more likely to get through. They know this which is why they seem to focus on customer service. Nobody likes having issues, especially with a firearm. But if when you do have an issue, you find the manufacturer responsive and helpful that can actually give you more overall confidence in an odd way. I have several PSA guns, but all are relatively new so too early to say one way or another but no complaints as of yet.

Great video with tons of useful info. Asking for a little help regarding your extractor spring recommendation. The Colt gold spring seems to be discontinued and/or out of stock with all the normal vendors. Sprinco has a ton of options with no real way of knowing the difference between them. The most common seems to be the “5 coil extra power,” which shows recommended for 16” or shorter barrels. I’m guessing that’s because shorter barrels are typically over gassed. What’s your recommendation for builds with barrels over 16” like an 18” SPR?

Was there something wrong with these? I'm not a huge fan of PSA but I can't hate on them too much for their AR15s. Mostly because AR specs are so well known that making a good one is just a matter of choosing decent parts and a bit of care during assembly. I think PSA does a good enough job for that, especially considering the price. The PSA PA10 on the other hand was an ill concieved product that was unreliable and changed several times before it became somewhat reasonable and a lot closer to what it should have been initially. Lots of early adopters got burned and it further muddied the already muddy watters around large frame ARs.

Soooo....complete amateur here, but I've had great luck with mid range parts on sale or blemishes. I think you can't go wrong with aero precision, PSA, CMC, etc. Not poverty lime parts, but not highest grade. I'd rather have an aero upper with slight cosmetic blemish than an Anderson that was perfect. My go to, gets abused rifle is a blem aero upper and lower, aero slimline handguard, ballistic advantage barrel, PSA lower parts kit( get the EPT, enhanced polished trigger) aero upper parts kit, bcg and charging handle( bcg and charging handle during one of their holiday sales), aero gas tube and block. Don't waste money on the flash hider. You can get one for about $30. All in, including shipping, tax and lower transfer I'm just under $800 for a really nice rifle. It's not FN, Colt or Daniel Defense quality, but it shoots better than I do.....and I love it! Word of caution though.....check the gun laws in your state!!! You can import parts that, once assembled, may not be legal in your locality! In my state you MUST have an HBAR marked barrel for instance..... but you can order a regular barrel or barreled upper that becomes illegal as soon as you put it together.
