Becareful guys, you can fast once or twice a week but this does not mean , you can go ahead and eat all the nasty foods the other days it wont work , you need eat healthy on the others days other wise whats the point,?

I hear what your saying about fasting on your first day back at work but my issue I'm a cook and the temptation to eat isn't really a big deal but there are times I have to taste it for the sake of serving the food love to know your thoughts on that

I continue to fast twice a week, 30-33 hours each time. So far, barley fitting into a size 8 jeans. I used to be a size 14. Also, I’m learning that my tendency to overeat is becoming more difficult.

I cycle 25 miles a day, mainly for fitness, and weight loss. Starting my first twenty four hour fast, Monday, and it's not so bad. Three hours left and I'm having a meal of chicken with rice. I hope I can cycle tomorrow with without negative effects.

It gets easier. I did it before watching this video but I like what he said about doing it on a work day. That actually makes a lot of sense. Being busy takes your mind off the hunger. I also like mineral water and black coffee (not together, lol). They help suppress appetite.

I just did it for 25 hours! I slept most of the day! Got up and went to the commissary and ran some errands for 2 hours. After that went for a 30 min run. After that came home, took a shower and took a 2 hour nap. After that I got up and watch tv for a hour. Once that was over, I went to the bar and played dominoes for 2 1/2 hours. Came home and finally ate! I drank water a little bit but did not eat anything or consume any calories from 7pm Saturday til 8pm Sunday. I loved it

Try about 32 or so hours. For example at least 3 times a month I eat dinner (usually late like around 10 pm) and I don't eat again the next day or night and I go to bed on an empty stomach the following night and eat the morning/afternoon after that.

Mike, despite having over one year of IF experiencing, fasting every day, I had never done a 24-hour fast until earlier this week. It was a great experience. Despite eating at maintenance or slightly more every day since, I'm still at an all-time low bodyweight and have had to ramp up my eating because I don't need to go any lower and prefer to be no less than the low end of my 5-lb. maintenance range, this morning was 1.5 lb. below that. Keep up your good work as an IF Ambassador.

I'm on 28 hours now and about to go to bed for the night. I'm shocked at how easy it is! I don't feel hungry (I was ravenous after only 8 hours but it went away within an hour) and I feel so happy. I have a lovely buzz of contentment in my body, it reminds me of Christmas as a kid :)

Yeah it’s weird, I’m also feeling very happy now at close to 26 hours. I wonder if it’s just the feeling of accomplishment from fasting or related to the bodily effects of the fast!

I've been doing a 36 hour fast each week since November. I'm just getting into the groove of it now - last one was about 40 hours. My limit, at this time, is 48 hours, but I'm really only shooting for 36. I'll see where it takes me.

My strategy for 24 hour fast is to start it on a Sunday. I have a cheat meal on Sat and eat good on Sunday so I can feel like I need to make up for what I ate over the weekend. Tricking my brain pretty much. I don't eat sloppy, but good enough to where I don't feel like I need to eat until the 24 hours is up.

@@MikeCola I did my first 24 hour fast from yesterday to today, I was surprised it wasn't hard at all really (I had a cup of bullion), but I'm thinking about cycling 18:6, 20:4, and 24, then back around for another 3 days then having 1 day where I'm at 16:8... I've got a lot of work to do, and I want to see what doing this for a month will do, and find out if it's sustainable. Any tips?

Did my first 24 hr water fast last Friday now on my second one today trying to do it every Tues and Fri I'm 284 lbs (down from almost 300 a few weeks ago) the hardest part for me is the boredom I just keep thinking about what I'm gonna eat tomorrow 😆

I did a 72 hour fast in December 2021 (my first fast longer than 20 hrs) and for the first time in my recent years on Keto and IF, I actually dropped 3 kgs in the first day that I have not gained back since! Now, two weeks into Carnivore, I decided to hit another 36hrs. I am now on 25 hrs into it and I can't wait to see results tomorrow that I KNOW I will!

I am fasting Monday + Wednesday for the last month, go out on Friday and Saturday and drink beer, etc, and still lose weight! Not to mention how great I feel after fasting.. lots of energy, finally stopped procrastinating. Best decision I have ever made! Thank you for the video.

I took off 40 lbs of birth weight twice with my two kids just by fasting 1 day a week for 24 hrs. No alcohol was in my diet then. Now at age 68 I have been trying different IF diets and OMAD, and I cannot shift the weight. So I’m going back to the 24hr way ( it’s the Jewish Biblical way! ). Monday is a good suggestion…I used to do Fridays but I like your arguments for Mondays. The other 6 days I’ll do my own healthy thing and add more walking. Wish me luck as I’m tired of hauling around 30 extra pounds. It’s not a lot, but it’s still annoying!

Great video. Been combining OMAD + IF and it has proven really effective in helping me lose weight. The part where you mention glycogen is really crucial. I've tried doing CICO before without fasting and even though I was at a deficit, my weight either increased or remain stagnant which was extremely demotivating. I gradually managed to implement a 16H fast, moving up to a min of 20-24 hours a day and the weight melt off like butter! Depleting your glycogen and converting stubborn fats into ketones is one of the major benefits among many of fasting.

Diet from Monday to Thursday dinner time start fasting until Friday dinner time and then cheat until Saturday dinner then diet on Sunday that’s what I do it’s pretty sustainable

I've found that sugar causes intense cravings. It only took me 3 days of being completely off refined sugar to get over this craving. After that, fasting is not difficult. 24-48 hours once per week, and 16 hours everyday. No sugar, no seed oils, no flours of any type, and no dairy except maybe some cottage cheese. Eat the fermented foods, cruciferous vegetables, mushrooms, leeks, colored vegetables and only berries for fruit. Take whatever supplements you need, careful not to double up on blood thinners.

I agree that everyone should try a 24 hour fast once a week. I eat 40:8 IF wholefoods low-carb six days per week, and on the seventh day I double my calories and eat high-carb low glycemic foods. This prevents metabolic adaptation and gives me a mental break. I like the mental clarity, high energy, metabolic homeostasis, optimal lipids, reduced inflammation and appetite suppressant attributes. I avoid grains, sugar, soy, refined carbs, GMO's and processed foods. I have a list of nutrient dense healthy whole food staples but I will divert occasionally. I keep it simple so I do not have to over think it. Cheers!

The health benefits from fasting are beyond losing weights/ add weights/building muscles! From 14 years consistency experience who to add fasting into you're program if building muscles are you're goals ' Do not fast post workout meal' Or the day after. Start you're fast minimum 48 hours after weight lifting exercise.

I have done water fasts where you do not eat anything after 6pm and then nothing the next day and the following day you break the fast with something light like melon. The evening of the full fast day you will be tired and when you wake up the next morning, it is like you are on speed and full of energy plus you shrunk your stomach to an extent so when you eat lunch, you will be full on less than half of what you use to eat

Mike makes a lot of sense... I've watched Dr. Stephen Gundry, Dr. Ken Berry & Dr. Eric Berg. They all have good information. I just can't get with the Carnivore Diet, Gundry's discovery about lectins is interesting, but you would have to nearly eat only foods high in lectins for them to be as dangerous as he says they are. Now that I've found Mike is now next to Dr. Berg as my favorites.

diet soda and the zero calorie sodas are fine and dont break your fast.you can do green tea,tea,coffie plain,diet soda and water.....there are quite a few options for zero calorie drinks for fasting....... aspartame and splenda do not break a fast. aspartame and splenda may not be the best for you to have but you CAN have them on a fast.

Hi Penny, I think the biggest benefit is being in a low insulin state for 24 hours. I just finished reading Why We Get Sick by Benjamin Bikman. Many diseases (metabolic syndrome) come from being insulin resistant. If you can keep insulin low from fasting, you'll be increasing your insulin sensitivity. Hello sir, I'm doing 24 hours fast then eat after 24 hrs. Then do fast again for 24hrs. Like 6pm i will eat. Then eat again 6pm the next day. Is that okay? I'm going to the gym as well... my start weight is 97kgs in 1 week I'm on 94kg.

Hi King, sounds like a good plan but don't overdo it. It's a good short term plan to lose some weight but once you reach your goal weight reduce the 24 hour fast to once or twice a week. Best - Mike

Hi. Great and helpful video! I've recently been dealing with Sibo I believe brought on by stress of losing both of my parents. I've just fasted for 24hrs for the first time and can't believe how much better I feel. Especially in the intestines. If I can manage more then 24 hours fasting would you recommend it? Hey Matt, Yes, muscle glycogen will get somewhat depleted too without lifting...the more active you are during the fast the more it will be depleted.. Once glycogen gets stored in the muscles it stays there and can be depleted within the muscle. Liver glycogen can leave the liver to fuel the brain and increase blood sugar. I've done this everyday this week and I burn 3400 calories a day... which includes quite intense cardio 1hr (which I normally do anyway as I'm a runner). Its possible to do it without much disruption / temptation (fasting). It's a whole lot harder to start cutting things you like out of your diet (I find anyway). Afterwards I'll keep 1-2 days fast and otherwise return to normal. I was beginning to put on a bit of weight despite training... so had to take action to curb it before it got out of hand.

I just made my 27 hr mark. Ive been regularly doing 48hr fasts after my weekends and subsequently do 24 hr fasts the rest of the week. Total days of fasting is 5-6 days depending on weekends plans. I started at 260lbs and now at 225lbs. It's taken me 1 full year to figure what works for me. Almost no exercise other than calf raises and assisted/ inclined pushups. I drink tons of water and use caffeine pills(smarter vitamins). It's not a race to lose the weight. I go up 4lbs after the weekend and by the end of my first 24hrs I've lost half of that. Enjoy your journey.

I know you said not to do a 24 hour fast on a Sunday, but that is the day I'm going to do it for the first time...want to know I can do it on a lazy sunday before I try to do it during the week. Will get some Pelligrino for the electrolytes...I have some flavor crystals..will drop them in water...hopefully that will keep me satiated.

Google it and see what the mineral content is. I know Pelligrino has about 50 mg of magnesium per liter. The adequate intake for magnesium is about 400 mg per day. Most people don't get anywhere near that. That's one of the reasons why I drink a couple of liters of Pellegrino every day. Hope this helps. Best - Mike

With a 24 hour fast once or twice a week I don't think you necessarily have to change days. Start with just one 24 hour fast per week for a few weeks and see how you do (don't over do it). Plus, make sure you're taking in enough sodium when you're fasting. You might want to put a pinch of salt into your water. Check back in with me and let me know how you're doing in a few weeks. I think that's a great strategy. 16:8 six days a week with one 24-hour fast on the seventh day. I would exercise to maintain your muscle mass while losing weight and to improve your health. But you can lose weight without exercising. Thanks for watching the video 👍. Best - Mike
