@MikeCola

If you’re an athlete, it can take a long time before you are genuinely fat-adapted and can perform at a high level, eating a low-carb diet. Unfortunately, it can take months. Eating low-carb is a great way to reduce empty calories and lose weight, but if your body is used to burning carbs, you can feel sluggish. If your main goal is athletic performance, but you still want to lose weight. You might not want to go very low carb. Instead, try reducing calories but keep eating fruits and vegetables. Reducing calories too aggressively can also make you feel sluggish while playing sports. It’s all a delicate balance. I hope this helps

@MikeCola

It depends on how active you are if you can get in ketosis with 100 g of carbs... You have to experiment. I try to focus on calories and protein. I always keep protein high about 150 g per day and I adjust my calories based on goals.

Congrats on the weight loss 👊. It depends No how you define fasting. Some people would say any calories break a fast others would say a spike in insulin breaks a fast. It really depends what your goals are. If your main goal is weightless a few calories doing your fasting window. It's probably OK but if you're fasting for autophagy, you might want to not taking any calories.

It’s not good for your metabolism to be in a big calorie deficit for a long period of time. Plus you want to make sure you are getting enough vitamins ,minerals and nutrients only eating one meal a day. So every 5 or 6 weeks I would increase your calories (to maintenance), stop fasting for a week or so and make sure you’re taking in good nutrition. This will help with long term weight loss

I generally eat a low carb diet as I used to challenge myself in terms of peaking for photo shoots. I experimented with the keto diet, however I had a moderate protein intake to keep muscle tone. My body did not produce ketones though. Any idea what my body was using for energy?

Hi Rich, If you were following a low-carb diet for a while and then switched over to a keto diet. I'm sure you were producing ketones. However, if you were using the urine strips to measure ketosis, you might have already been fat adapted . Your liver was producing ketones, but you were burning them up, so they did not show up in your urine. The urine strips work best when you are brand new to eating a keto diet before becoming fat adapted. If you're using a blood meter to measure ketones and it didn't show a high enough reading to be in ketosis, then I'm not sure what was going on. Maybe you were eating some fructose and didn't realize it. Check out this article:... It explains everything I'm talking about hvmn.com/blogs/blog/ketosis-ketones-in-urine-all-you-need-to-know Thanks for watching my video 👍 Best - Mike
