Thank you for not rehearsing. It’s good for us pickers of lessor skill to see that even the best of us can stumble on picking or, in this case, dismantling a lock. Every time someone with a channel doesn’t edit a glitch or an error it becomes a learning experience for the rest of us. As always well done.

CEN means Central European Norm. It was devised some time ago when the major padlock manufacturers got together to devise a testing standard. GRADE 6 - Maximum High Security GRADE 5 - Extra High Security GRADE 4 - High Security GRADE 3 - Medium / High Security GRADE 2 - Standard Security GRADE 1 - Low Security

They’re more tricky than the should be, because of the pin stacks being so crowded in, similar to the Mila euros. Did Beardy saywhere he got it, there are hundreds flooding on to the market, kinda feels like the Abloy 330 tsunami 🌊 🤣🤣I’ve just bought 6 for stupid low money♥️♥️♥️ Cheers, Yalesleviathon

I've decided to buy one of these to use as a SPP training lock. Hopefully, I'll get some decent bidding on the keys. I like the fact that the cylinder is interchangeable, these kind of padlocks rock my boat...man-overboard!! Anyway, great lockpick with this Federal SS730. The Federal SS740 is also a tasty looking padlock that I may look out for. 👊💥💨🔒

Great pick! I had a very quick go one one of these and I have to say I got nowhere fast. They really seem to fight you. Stick in some American serrated spools and a shrouded shackle and you have a beast of a lock. I really like the anti physical attack measures... I've not seen a dove-tailed anti drill plate before, but it's a great idea from Federal! :-)

I don't suppose you know what size the tumbler springs in this are, do you and where to source them cheaply? This video was a great instructional one for opening (with the key!) one of these that had been outside for 12 years for a good clean; the lock was pretty jammy and I got it all cleaned and working except I managed to get the key stuck mid-way and had to sacrifice 3 springs to get it apart. I thought it was all going too smoothly to be true :)

Hi Pete, can you tell me where is the best place to get American locks? Regards Glynn

I presume that because you're asking the question you are not in the States and probably UK based. So how to answer this without sounding flippant??? I have a reasonably large collection of Americans, so I can only tell you how I get mine. 1) Swapping with other members on www.uklocksport.uk 2) Buying on Ebay (not that great as most are from the U.S. with silly international postage prices) but there are a few that come up from the UK, you just need to keep on it. 3) Swapping with other KZitemrs in the US (swap enough and the postage costs come down) 4) Knowing someone in the States that you can get stuff sent to (so you only pay domestic postage on ebay etc.), and then get them posted over here in bulk, far cheaper than individual items sent internationally. Sorry if this isn't a great help, but I've never found a supplier or any other way to get them this side of the pond.

As a user of padlocks, is it a good idea for you to show people how to pick them? I think not!

I know what you mean I had 6 bikes stolen in 12 years but it takes a LOT of practice before being able to do this and not too many people are going to feel comfortable trying to pick a lock as long as it's in a public place - they're looking for something to do a quick cut and run with. If you do have something locked in a place where someone has time + privacy to work on it a padlock like this is not up to the task, you're going to need something more anyway.
