Every year the indie games are the ones that captivate me the most. I don't mean nostalgia games that emulate a modern version of the old ones. I would even add new not made before ideas. The triple a industry rarely catches me. Nintendo is the only one that break that rule and only with some franchises
@tylermontgomery3513

Yup, you pretty much summed it up, though I'm a bit more forgiving of the triple A scene then you are, Fromsoftware and Atlus will always be 2 of my favorite devs, Capcom obviously still makes great stuff, and even though Ubisoft has become a toxic shithole company that deserves to die in a hole, even THEY managed to put out an excellent Metroidvania with the new Prince of Persia game. So, I haven't given up on tiple A, I'm just really picky when it comes to them. @@faelreklaw8837

These all look terrific, and I love that you're pulling stuff of actual value from the hellscape of Twitter. Indies are the games that are truly pushing the boundaries of the industry, and the way they bring back the best aspects of classic games with a fresh take is inspiring. I hadn't heard of any of these before, and all 5 of them are 100% on my radar now. (A Frog's Tale especially holy crap) An indie game I've had my eye on for a bit is called Kibu. It has a gorgeous artstyle that really grabbed me

I've felt so confused over the last year or so with a lot of the negative sentiment towards gaming as a whole saying that "modern gaming sucks" and what not. Like, yeah, the AAA space is riddled with terrible monetization and design decisions centered around that, but all I know is I would have LOVED to have the wide assortment of indie games we have now as a kid. Great selection of games here, wiz. The Big Catch looks especially promising.

Thank you for bringing attention to these -- and with so much insight and thoughtfulness to boot! I'm especially drawn to Maple Forest & A Frog's Tale. Absolutely love devs doing new things with classic aesthetics. I really loved the vibes in all of them and I'll be following on Twitter. Rooting for these artists to cross that finish line. It's tough out there but I hope the response to this video signals there's strong interest!

Finding new and endearing video game projects from smaller developers on Twitter has definitely been one of the best reasons to stick around. I love learning about new and upcoming games and seeing all sorts of stuff from passionate creators. I'd say most of the games I play these days are ones I learned about from Twitter.

I have a similar experience with Twitter, although I did it more passively on accident; I follow nearly 1,800 people, and pretty much all of them are artists, so between that and me largely ignoring things that, aren't art, I've gotten the website to give me a pretty cool feed of just, cool stuff. I definitely have some indie game dev stuff in there too, but I've never so deliberately sought it out as you, so it's nice to be exposed to more of it (and all these games do look rad).

I wasn't expecting this video to make me teary eyed of all things, but the overwhelming feeling of hope you put into this one made my day, thank you :) as someone who's slowly getting closer to the graphic design side of the gamedev community, I think the aura surrounding this industry lately has made me a little jaded towards a lot of higher budget projects, but seeing a video like this talking about a more hopeful outlook makes me really want to commit to helping this specific side of the industry blossom !

I will say this: I have not hated Twitter at all, and that's because I deleted my old one with all my friends on it and created a new one that ONLY has things that I like. I refuse to add any real life friends/acquaintances on there, and the only topics I have on Twitter are video games, anime, and animals. I block people who bring negative vibes and I mute all notifications on most replies unless I'm specifically asking a question about something. It's great! The app is an amazing source of information about things I would never have known of the things that I like. Thank you for sharing these gems, I already knew about a couple of them but I'll go follow that Dino Yoshi like game now!

All these games look really fun but I'm most interested in Metropolis 1998! I feel like that style of game is one that has truly disappeared. Isometric simulation games like rollercoaster tycoon and SimCity were some of my favorites when I was younger and to see one lone project bringing it back in a way that truly feels like the next big leap feels unbelievably exciting! Also, just to throw out another small indie project I'm super hyped for; if you haven't heard of Mika and the Witch's Mountain, I highly suggest checking it out! I've been following it for a while and I'm extremely hyped for it!

I've definitely wishlisted a few of these thanks to you. Another game i saw years ago just like these is "Fight Knight". And it came out not too long ago and im so very happy i found it. Its like an old zelda dungeon crawler. with interesting and fun characters and enemies. In first person, all spiked with the fact your character interacts with EVERYTHING by punching. The combat is a 2 laned punch out style system, fast paced and challenging, and i love it. This combined with the world and music, oh the music is absolutely incredible. Nothing makes a game better than music that amplifys the feeling of its best parts. It had a Kickstarter demo back in the day. But its definitely worth checking out.

It all started back in 2020 when I found this little known up and coming indie game called Pizza Tower, and other projects that havent released yet that om still closely following to this day. From then on I started following as many indie projects as they entered my feed, and though my feed isnt completely fixed from the toxicity, I look forward to finding more projects that will wow me just like Pizza Tower did.

I backed Dono's Tale, wanna know how I learned about it? It wasn't because of twitter, it was because thanks to Mina The Hollower, a game by Yacht Club Games (Shovel Knight's devs), that I made my account so that same year I did visit Kickstarter due to other's updates, Dono's Tale was lucky to catch my eye with its absolute charm and make me love it, I even tried to spread the word and help it (I think I got him like 4 backers since only 2 Mexicans were backing it and after my post it raised to 6, maybe more since Chile isn't on the Community list), sadly it wasn't enough, but that tells how much potential it could have had if the creator had more luck with social media spreading the word. I'm still trying to help his game by retweeting the game, I just hope the relaunch has more luck and awareness this time.

Another thing, I did improve my twitter experience in a different way, mute every single word that always comes with toxic conversations (socialism, capitalism, comunism, economy, trump, nazism, fascism, woke, chud, etc.), it helps so much is amazing, I started to find more artists, more games, more people saying actually interesting things those made me happy. There are other words and things I did mute but don't feel confident because despite then being not negative on their own, always come with negative conversations, can you guess which ones?

These games look cool. I've got a criticism though. It really bugs me how a lot of modern 2d platformer cameras work. You're supposed to be able to see in front of you, it's useless to have 60% or more of the screen showing where you've already been. I can't believe people don't realize how integral this has been to platformers since the start. You need to be able to see enemies before they're in your face so you can plan when to jump. It's basic stuff. Can you imagine if Super Mario Bros had him 75% of the way through the screen? It certainly would have been an easy way to make the game harder, but I'm sure they chose not to do that for a good reason right
