Lebanese Trail day 10
Stage: Somewhere in the mountains - Tannorine Cedar Reserve
Daily distance: 20km
Total: 219km
After a relatively calm night (we could see lightning in the sky, although there were no clouds 🤔), we woke up around 6 am, freezing.
I lazily set up camp and slowly walked out of the hut onto the trail. Today's episode was fabulous. We wandered surrounded by snow-capped peaks, constantly crossing mountain streams. It was uphill all the time and the trail was muddy in many places. My friend didn't feel like walking today. She made it clear to me that she didn't have the strength to walk. So I took a lot of breaks today and decided that we would walk a shorter distance today. On the map I found the Guest House which is located near the Cedar Preserve. When we got there it was still early. Despite this, the reserve was already closed. Unfortunately, so does the Guest House. What to do? There is almost no food, no shops either, so the morale has deteriorated. We still had 10 km to the town. We won't make it before dark.
While we were sitting in front of the building, a car suddenly drove up. It turned out that the owner of the guesthouse came to take something for a while. So I asked if we could sleep on the terrace. He agreed and gave us fruit and cookies. Well, Habi doesn't like this type of menu.
However, I noticed on the map that there was a restaurant a few hundred meters from us. So I left my backpack and went to seek my fortune. I found it 😀
When I got to the pub, it turned out to be closed, but after a minute a car pulled up so there was hope. The owner of the restaurant also came only for a moment, but when he found out that I was traveling through Lebanon on foot, he gave me bread and two cans of tuna. Habcia loves them. I only paid for Mirinde and received the rest as a gift. Wonderful 😁
Lebanese Trail day 11
Stage: Tannorine Cedar Reserve - Tannorine El Faouga
Daily distance: 15km
Total: 234km
Today's hike was short, but that doesn't mean nothing happened 😊
When we fell asleep last night, I was woken up by Habi's loud barking. A strange dog, much bigger than Habci, came under our bed. She jumped up from the bed, ran to the dog and bit him on the butt. The dog squealed and moved away from us. My brave warrior was lying on the bed after 30 seconds as if nothing had happened. But I couldn't fall asleep for a long time.
The night was warm so we had a good night's sleep, ate breakfast and hiked to the Cedar Reserve. There was no one there so we could contemplate all the beauty alone and in silence. When we left the reserve, we started a really steep climb. Despite this, the climbing went very smoothly. At the top I read a message about the procedure for transporting Habi to Poland. I also received information about the veterinary clinic where the case will be handled. I called there and explained the details. The doctor offered me an appointment for tomorrow at 4 p.m. I asked her to book this date for me and I would confirm the appointment during the day. When we reached the village, we headed to the guesthouse marked on the map. I wanted to spend the night indoors today and find transport to take us to the clinic. Unfortunately, it is not possible to travel here with a dog by public transport.
Unfortunately, the guesthouse was closed. So I sat helpless on the stairs. Then I noticed a woman leading children from school. I talked to her and asked if she knew anything about a potential place to stay for us. She said she would find out and invited us to her house to rest while she would call a few places. A wonderful woman ❤️ Another Angel of the Trail revealed himself to us. An angel named Nancy.
We managed to arrange accommodation and transport to the city where the clinic is located. So I called the doctor and confirmed the appointment.
After having dinner and coffee together, to which she invited us, a man appeared and yesterday he let us spend the night on the terrace of his guesthouse. He came to our Benefactor's husband who is a barber 😊
We spent a while talking about our impressions of the trail and our last overnight stay, and after his beard was trimmed, he took us to the monastery where we would spend the next two nights. It was probably Habi's first time driving a car, but she behaved very politely 😊
There is a hotel next to the monastery and it is very comfortable. It's warm, there is electricity and the shower I dreamed of. I washed my dirty clothes and dragged Habi to the bathroom by force. I scrubbed it for quite a long time, but I still couldn't get it clean. I think we have a few more such shower sessions ahead of us. She's a terrible little cat 😊
After 7 p.m. I went to the monastery kitchen and had dinner with the monk. We talked, I in Polish and a little Arabic, and he in Arabic and a little French.
Now we are in a warm room. I'm writing a report and Habunia is sleeping sweetly on the carpet.
