The most unique demo of track strength I have ever seen....fabulous :) Really admire the scenic. It's too tempting to flood the whole deck with track. Personally, I'd drop a country pub on the lower part about 1 meter left of the road tunnel, make the road run all the way along that section...but it's your layout. Really good basis. Cover all the white stuff in brown poster paint and then mix and match the scatter stuff, it will work out fine it really will. Once all the green/brown stuff is installed that plain blue back drop will look even better, trust me. Great weathering on the wagons. JUst as a closing comment, before you lose the will to live..lol...it is normal to be frustrated and it is very refreshing to see those who say it in their videos. Stay safe my friend :)

How crazy is this, you just said every single thing I'm doing, including the pub and the road run, hence the slope at the end. And... ive already started on the brow poster paint, but running low, also the mixed base covering. Honestly, you said what I'm doing word for word. Your so right about flooding the deck with teack, sometimes I should watch what I say in case ot offends people, but, hey, I have to just say what I think. Glad you like the track strength demo, it takes a while to master, but very effective lol. Thanks for posting thus comment, someone that thinks just like myself. Also thanks for watching. Maybe you can rescue the paper stuff with a bit of gentle air brushing to blend in some weatheing and then varnish it?. Hi Lee Excellent work on the country area you have got a nice long run there . I like the weathering of the vans the look good good going along that run. Two things we have in common is that I wished I had used set track for reliability and also I had the same issues with card kits and have replaced some with MDF kits the ones I kept I sprayed with artists pastel fixative which has helped . Looking forward to the next update. Cheers Kev

Thanks kev. It looks quite different from the pics I sent you the other day because it was just track at that stage. The hills were really enjoyable to make and anyone whishing to make them, my advice would be do it. Yeah the card kits are quite annoying and unrealistic too. I'd love to find someone that could laser cut Upminster main station building. Glad you like the vans, I just thought it was a bit different and adds a splash of colour. That straight run was deliberate so I can watch the trains have a long run uninterrupted. I sometimes look back after posting a video and hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments, but hey, I'm only sharing my thoughts. Kev thanks as always mate for your support, I always enjoy talking to you. Take care for now. Oh and don't forget I still have your coaches. All the best. Lee

Hello Robert. Lovely to hear from you as always and thanks for those kind words and your support as always. After posting this video, Ive had so many comments saying about matt varnishing the paper models and like you said, I'm going to re-wrap them and coat them up with a matt varnish. John at exhaven said to go for halfords spray, so ill look into that. Glad you like the hills Robert, I must say, they were so much fun to build even without all the beer I had to drink to get the cardboard to make it. I need to have a good catch up on videos and yours is on my list. It's just been so hard to find time lately as I've been building my business and it has kinda taken over everything (but atleast it means more money for modelling). Haha 😄 The bugs eating the paper are silverfish, horrible bloody things. I've bought some spray for them, but the best thing is to matt varnish them, you can get a large can of spray from halfords. Take care and thanks for all your great comments, really enjoyed our conversations. Nice one, Lee. it's your layout, you do what you want on it. Loved the bit about having to drink the contents of the cartons to use them in the hillside! Has the paper delaminated on those buildings? Might have been a good idea to spray the card with matt varnish before building?

Hello Alan. I never thought of a mast station, so there's an idea. I was hoping not to use the rock formations as it might make it look anti-english and more European or Scottish. Great new landscape that will look stunning when scenics have been applied. Very strange what has happened to the card buildings, does look like that was done by some form of creature, never seen card being 'chipped' like that before, warped yes but that is often caused by damp or condensation. Has there been any damage to other items, track, trains or wiring? I honestly think those buildings you created are fantastic and could easily be saved with another layer of brick paper over the top, but all buildings do need to be varnished to protect them. Clearly your choice though, the resin buildings do look good, but you are limited to what is available.

The scratch built underground stock was covered in a video I did, but to be honest, I reflect back at it, and can say clearly that I'm rather displeased with the results. My son has bought a 3d printer ( I have no idea about how they work), but I am hoping there is a way to print some D stock shells and perhaps run them on another chassis. I have a few already and look forward to the day they’re on Exehaven. I will do some more scratch building though as I enjoy doing it and i think they will be mainly made from plastic. As for your Upminster station buildings spray them with Halfords clear matt lacquer I do with all of mine and they stay fine mate. Very annoying though after all that work you’ve put in. As for trains running round, that’s what I’m looking forward to, this time I’ve designed four tracks because I have the room so that I can sit there and watch four trains running round. It’s the building that I enjoy so much. I love your hill section and I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Lee can I offer some tips. The damp is likely coming from the house. Heat rises. The warm air in the house can hold more moisture then when it reaches the cold of the loft in condenses out. 1. Buy a decent dehumidifier. One with a fridge type pump not a crappy peltier one. 2. And this is cheaper....make sure the hatch is insulated and you have a seal around it so air doesn't keep rising round the cracks. 3. Make sure any gaps round pipes coming into the loft...eg from airing cupboard ...are also sealed up. 4. Vent the loft if you can with your velux. All the best mate. Gary

@leewhall2504 That will help. But also consider the loft needs to be sealed from the rooms below. The hatch is the obvious way for warm damp air to end up in the loft space. Good luck matey
