With the huge focus on gluten and inflammation you hear more and more about being grain free and that all grain and carbs are the enemy. Yet as Dan Buettner covers in the Blue Zones which showcase the healthiest places in the world, most of them have some grains as a dietary staple. Overall, yes, we’re best to minimize grains. Just like meat. A great plate of food would have veggies as half or more of the meal and not a side item. In America we have made a staple of big portions of grains at every meal. Who didn’t grow up having bread with pretty much every meal? And we generally choose the least nutrient dense, life-giving options.
