But people don’t even acknowledge the evolution in such a short time. Check the old interviews with Missy and Tim. For example Missy wrote I care for you in 95/96 and Aaliyah had been recorded it. They then re recorded that record for the A album. Which was also originally supposed to come out on late 98/99 . However they chose to wait and capitalize off of Romeo must die and what she was doing acting wise, as it was helping grow her fan base. But again she really chose to evolve her sound and with Static major coming in the picture they started to create more of what she wanted, and people still think Timbaland was behind that whole album when he only did like 3 songs, the rest was her static , Missy etc . Even the praise from the critics was that she finally evolved her sound into womanhood with the last album and the experiment was paying off.

@@simple.1829 You are loud and WRONG. And maybe even deaf, as you can see from this video Aaliyah had a wide range, and great control of her voice + perfect falsetto and effortless chest to head voice transition. Just because she sang a certain way (softer and more chill, because it was her style) doesn't mean she couldn't sing, or "she didn't have a voice" like you say, because she DID. SHE COULD SANG. Unfortunately some uneducated people think that range equals a superior singer. Someone can have power, but not range. Others can have melisma (vocal runs) without power. Some can just have a golden tone. Then there are some people who have it all. Although it’s a matter of opinion, others who can’t discern the differences will automatically jump to the belief that belting and intonation are the most important factors to a singer’s voice. That is unfortunate because Aaliyah was literally one in a million and had it all. We don’t know what kind of success or progress she would have had, but I’m sure we can all see she had the vocal chops and major potential…

On each one of her albums she would give her fans a song that showcased her vocal range. I think it was part of the industry keeping her mysterious as she wanted to be. Beginning with star search, although she didn’t win, but at 10 years old, the poise and voice comtrol. "Age ain't nothing but a number" she gave us street thing, on "One in A Million" she gave us this song, On "AALIYAH " she gave us "I refuse". All along she was telling y'all, stop saying I can't sing, cause I can! 😂
