Jordan Trail day 21
Stage: Karaka - Matan
Distance: 34
Total distance: 523km
Today was a very pleasant hike. When I said goodbye to my host, I returned to the trail that ran on asphalt for almost the whole day. Every now and then you had to go up the mountains for a while or wander along stone roads, but it wasn't a problem.. On the route I passed two cities, actually the trail passed them and I went to the center to buy food and water. Along the way, I got to meet a lot of people and talk. I wandered slowly and enjoyed every moment. The weather didn't cause me any problems today because I was walking at an altitude of 1200-1400 m above sea level and it was cooler at this altitude. The temperature did not exceed 24 degrees today.
When I left the second city, the GPS showed that I should enter the dirt road and go down sharply. I had maybe 1.5 km to Matan but I encountered a problem. It was impossible to get off the main road because huge concrete barriers were built here. A workaround had to be found. From 1.5 km it became 4 ry 🤨
However, I managed to reach Matan just before sunset and took some shots of this abandoned village. Now there is still a small problem to solve - accommodation. There is an Visitors Center next to the ruins, but you can see that it has not been functioning for a long time. So I decided to use the infrastructure and spend the night on a large terrace with a wonderful view of the area. There are toilets and electricity here, so we have everything we need on the go.. A little below, I noticed houses that used to be bungalows. So I took my backpack to them and prepared the night on the terrace of one of the houses. It's warm so I haven't even put up my tent. I'll go to sleep in a moment. There is no one around so there will be an opportunity to sleep longer.

Jordan Trail day 22
Stage: Matan - Ein Lahda Camp (off-trail)
Distance: 26
Total distance: 549km
After a peaceful night on the terrace of one of the cottages in Matan, I moved on. Ahead of me was several hundred meters down the length of less than two kilometers. The road, or rather the lack of any road or path, was extremely difficult. It was necessary to look for a safe passage between the boulders. In addition, there were a lot of small pebbles on which it was difficult to catch a grip. I walked incredibly slowly, watching every step. In a straight line, I had to walk about 2 kilometers, but traversing the slope and looking for a way, I walked 4 kilometers. It took me 3 hours!
However, at the bottom of the gorge, a reward awaited me. Beautiful, high, majestic rocks were breathtaking. I spent some time downstairs admiring what nature has created.
After these moments of delight, I moved on and started climbing on the opposite side. I overcame this section quite smoothly and reached the asphalt road. After about a kilometer there was a house. First on my way today. From behind the fence I heard a greeting and after a while I was sitting in front of the house with a very nice Mohamet and I was drinking tea. After some time my host invited me for dinner and after the meal there was another tea 😊
During the conversation, the topic of my overnight stay came up. Mohamed asked if I would like to spend the night in his friend's camp. He called him and it turned out that the price is very affordable. The only problem was that the camp is off the trail. Nevertheless, I decided to take advantage of the offer.
When I said goodbye to Mohammed, I went to the city, which was also off the trail. I did some shopping and every now and then I talked to the next residents. When I was leaving the city, a young boy caught up with me and handed me a plastic bag filled with sweets, juice and water. I thanked him heartily and left the city.
The further road was not difficult, although it led uphill all the time. Around 6pm I reached the camp and was able to take a long shower. I've been dreaming about it since yesterday. The camp is beautifully situated and my house, although small, is very comfortable.
Dinner will be served in a moment, which I am very happy about because I am already very hungry.
Another beautiful day behind me, thank you ❤️
