YUP! Other than looking cool and requiring not just one but TWO determined individuals, Acro-yoga is also a great way to stretch it out. In this case, the base person can lengthen their hamstrings and the flyer can lengthen their spine. Ah, so nice 😌
So, top person...GO AHEAD, HOP ON TOP, AND GIVE IT A WHIRL 😅
Ok, we’ll give you a little more instruction than that:
1. 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, aka base, lay on your back and place your feet on the hips of your partner, who is standing.
2. Then the 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, aka flyer, reach for your partner’s hands. 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲: Grab your partner’s wrists and bring their hands together.
3. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲: Bend your knees and slowly lift the flyer off the ground until they’re, flying! Your legs are probably going to want to be a little bit further away from the center of your body than you think.
4. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲: Focus on pulling your partner’s arms toward you, while you pull their legs in the other direction, so the flyer can feel lengthening in their spine. 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗲𝗿: take some deep breaths and let yourself lengthen. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲: Make sure your legs are straight so you get a good hamstring stretch.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲: Don’t just drop your partner from their graceful flying. Push your partner up by straightening out your arms, so the flyer gets a little more vertical before coming down gingerly.
