thanks for the lyric videos. You can rhyme anything. Aesop Rock is an earworm this week. First, I saw a picture of R. Crumb, then the pope, so now all these songs are just cracking me up relistening to them. It's been a while

The vast poor and middle class kids raised on artificial values only to be razed after public school by the brutal nature of reality's unwritten laws known only by the One's willing to seek it out. Unless you had your hand held along the way at some point you'd have to be a genius to just "know"

I don't know how much intersection there is between Tool and Aesop Rock fans but does anyone else think the beat sounds like part of Rosetta Stoned by Tool?

So here Is something. An old schoolmate of mine says, "I'm a fuck up." I know he's had some lady problems lately too. So friends and family say, "No,no no, you're not a fuck up." I say, "Well, it's true. you are a fuck up. But it's okay because so is everyone else. Don't let someone who doesn't have anything more than you figured out about this world make you feel inferior. You cann only be who you are. There are no rules to this game. (none that we can agree on) and there is no high score. Just be yourself." What do you know, these words meant to comfort brought out the bible brigade. Long story short I was called godless by someone who had never seen my face or heard my name. I said, "I don't know you sir, but perhaps you know me? By what right do you have to call me Godless?" What I want to know is: What is it about what I said that made this fellow think that I was godless? Do you have to be stupid to get into heaven, is that it? Also...I DO NOT TRUST THOSE THAT WANT TO BE SEEN BEING GOOD and "GODLY" Those people creep me the fuck out.

"you cannot pay your bills with holy water and Hail Mary luck" haha, that is such a sick burn, besides a searing indictment of Catholicism and religion in general. the whole song is. I never seen poetry like this since Bob fuckin Dylan. He is like a badass Bob Dylan MC.

well what he means when he said enjoy the Alcatraz shower fun is that Alcatraz used to have hot showers for inmates to try to get them to stay in the prison since the prison is cut off from society with cold water and strong fronts

Cory Meek opposition to religion and "exposing" some of it's more hypocritical sides. also, justifying his agnostic/atheist standpoint.. atleast that's what I got from it
@HiiroRocker101

I also think it's a criticism of the priorities among religious people. The sample track is illustrating that. It's saying that religious people have forgotten what it truly means to believe in God and have become more interested in the status of it all. It's calling them exactly what the Bible calls them buy they choose to ignore... Pharisees.

+Cory Meek Aes is talking how terrible Catholicism-inspired child molestation is, and mentions Nazi symbolism to kind of liken it to Christians' undying loyalty. He mentioned how its kind of a boondocks-conservative religion to "appease traditional upbringing". "Manger staff... as long as santa ate the cookies" mentions how obsurd Christmas is as its a celebration of Christ's birth but the whole Santa thing dodges that. He says "Aes is another sinning brick..." meaning that himself, in the eyes of religion is just as horrible and condemned as a murderer or a rapist simply because he gave into secular indulgences of growing up such as drugs and sex. He's saying he shouldn't be in the same "class" as death row criminals just because he does what EVERYONE else does on earth, but religion portrays him that way. Then he goes on to say that he's jaded by religion and not impressed by it at the conclusion of "Ill be auditioning gods in my office on monday morning", and all of the verse prior to that. TL;DR? Religion's a mess.
