1) Grew up with a cable blade AC. Many people think that hydraulic is always better but it's not. For scrub clearing in flat country a cable blade is superior. They are good in rough rocky country too because the blade rides up over the boulders and logs and so you see it and reverse and lower the blade again and keep going without digging trenches - which you can do on a powerful hydraulic machine. 2) And having a cable blade dozer with worn tracks is fantastic because you do less damage out in the paddock. This dozer here is in my opinion bloody great. Just needs a few repairs. 3) That winch is a piece of history - RG LeTourneau made that. And what a legend he was. Today, kids go to RG LeTourneau University in Texas USA. For some reason the bronze ID plate is missing off the winch. That plate carried the date of manufacture, the plant and the serial numbers for both drums. 4) Very much enjoyed this video. Cheers. :-)

You are right about RG, he was a genius, his inventions were numerous, his creations were monumental, his most famous was a giant truck for military operations in the Arctic, unfortunately his asperations were greater than his income and sold out to George Westinghouse.

Great video Rob. The dry weather certainly helps slow down the deterioration of the dozer. Already looking forward to the next dozer on your list.

G'day mate thanks for taking the time to show us this old girl. I've just done 2x10 hr days on a landini mulching. Pretty thankful I wasn't on the old hd15. My favourite has gotta be the 2 piece roof - kinda looking like it hinges from centre

Your right mate and the sprockets are worn before their time due to mismatching chain.

Same mate. If I get the time I will go for a drive out to ilfracombe and do a walk around of the machine museum they have out their, it is super impressive. But back to work next week, so see what happens maybe a 10,000 subscriber goal. Oh and ilfracombe is probably a 2 day drive from where I am.

Little bit of trivia for you RJ you where the first person to comment on my channel when I posted my first video. Something along the lines of “less talk more 21”. If I ever get to the merch stage you will get the first free merch pack. Easy promise to make as I’m tens of thousands of subs away from that stage. 👍🏼

Hey Leigh, thanks for commenting mate, I haven’t seen your name pop up before but glad your enjoying the videos👍🏼. Yep I saw the welds as well after talking with the old man he said it was done before he got the machine and the reason the sprockets are so worn is the chain and sprockets don’t match.

Hi Rod, thanks for shearing the HD15. Nice old Dozer, that will fire straight up with the Detroit, just need to check the rack is not locked up first. Full fuel would not be good.

I don’t know the chances of it ever getting going again, probably not good. At least it has a chance unlike the ones that get scrapped and melted.

Thanks for showing Rob. HD15 is a good old dozer. We still run one, strait gear drive no converter, but has been very reliable for years. Can still get parts for the ole jimmys while the later AC engine parts are getting scarce. This one appears to have a later style cylinder head with external fuel rails, maybe 4 valves? and the twin oil bath filters been replaced by a paper unit on top. If anyone is interested in seeing one operate, check out my channel. Cheers 😁👍

I'm sure you will get a few keen Allis Chalmers enthusiasts to check your 15 out. other then the drive sprockets this one seems to be in okay order. I have another video of a hd16 coming and she is still working well until recently as the oil cooler is now leaking oil into radiator but that is not a hard fix. thanks for the comment and I hope your channel is growing.

This 15 is a fair bit older than my 21 and they have very little in common. I have a video of a 16 that is closer to the same age and has an Allis motor but still too different to be interchangeable for parts and last but not least it costs about $6,500 to get any decent size dozer floated to my place from out west. It is definitely the land of the parked up allis’s and there are 21s out there that I will scavenge should I ever have the need.

Probably plenty of guys would love to have the hd15. I think it becomes a numbers game as in cost to repair for amount of work you can get out of it. Also it is often the case you can pick up another dozer for the cost of the repairs.
