I'm so happy Jimmy found love and kindness amongst his wife and her family. The same thing happened with my husband and his family. After growing up in a neglectful/emotionally abusive environment and then experiencing traumatic abuse in relationships I literally didn't know how to accept love and kindness when I met my husband. I literally couldn't comprehend not being abused because it was all I ever knew. Thankfully my husband continued to love me and encourage me to grow/process things. I finally feel like I'm actually living instead of just trying to survive and I'm happy he seems to have found that as well.

Heavily relate to jimmie's childhood. Had to raise my brothers a lot as a child and my mother had BPD and was very unstable. I've recently (in college) been going to therapy and there was a lot of trauma there that I suppressed that had been causing me problems. Jimmie should be proud of himself for being so honest about it.

I can relate to Jimmie’s childhood so much. When he was talking about his in-laws and interactions with his parents made me cry. I wanted in-laws like that, but my husband’s mom sounds exactly like Jimmie’s. At the risk of generalizations, it’s really refreshing to see someone around that age to be open to and about mental health. ❤️❤️
