I really enjoy your deep thoughts! This one in particular is very fascinating because it deals with our obsession with materialism! Your observations are true but I wish you would have gone deeper about the "spend your time on things that really matter" aspect of life. The problem with materialism is that it doesn't really have a purpose in itself besides bringing us momentary "happiness". However, what are the things in life that really matter? *Everyone will say: Family, relationships or friends.* That's very beautiful and romantic but it isn't always possible. You might end up without a family, friends or any kind of relationship at basically any stage of your life. What then? Well, you go back to materialism because if you don't have anyone else to dedicate your life to, you at least have hobbies or work to spend your time on.

I contemplated adding that to the script, but broaching that topic definitely felt like a topic for another video as it would've gone well outside of the main theme of the video. However, in the meantime I thought I'd share some of my own personal thoughts at the very least: First of all, I do indeed believe that relationships in general are some of the most important aspects of our lives and that isn't a hopelessly romantic ideal. While we might not all be born into supportive families and not everyone is meant for romantic relationships, there are friends who are closer than brothers. Cultivating that isn't easy and takes time, but it is priceless. Humans are social creatures by nature and trying to ignore that only leads to misery. Outside of that, I also recommend everyone find healthy pastimes. Sure, some hobbies can be money sinks that fall into the trap of materialism, but there are better alternatives out there. Gardening, cooking, painting, woodworking, music, dancing, and reading are just a few examples that come to mind and there are plenty more. Try some and find out what you personally find invigorating, you may be surprised! Lastly, there's spiritual fulfillment which is all too tragically neglected in modern society and we're all the worse for it. Although as a holy knight, I'm sure you know already know that ;) I know that doesn't answer everything, but I hope it helps even a little. Best wishes and godspeed.

I rented the original before I had a memory card big enough to save my game. I kept leaving my GameCube on so I wouldn't lose anything, but that only lasted for 8-10 hours before my Mom would complain, then I'd have to turn it off and start over again. I didn't play another one again until New Horizons, even though I liked the first one. If only I weren't poor lol

This is an interesting video. I don't agree with a lot of your key points but I can understand and respect how you drew those conclusions. I can agree with a lot of your statements regarding the real world though. Let me share a bit of my backstory with you. I'm autistic, I was tasered once by accident, I suspect one of my classmates may have given me brain damage by striking my head repeatedly, I suspect I may suffer from OCD, and after having a severe psychological breakdown I eventually started playing Animal Crossing New Horizons which was my first Animal Crossing game. Before people start insulting me repeatedly for my autism and all the other things that have happened to me you have to understand that all these experiences rewired my brain. As a child I watched my family struggle with debt and with living in lower middle (tore up houses)/upper lower (apartments) class housing. I watched debt ruin the lives of my father, who is literally a genius, and my mother who seemed to constantly work to help her children at the cost of her own health. Can you guess the effect all of this had on me psychologically? After playing the game I think I may have infuriated Nook by paying all my debt off first before I remotely improved the quality of my life. I like this game because it taught me how to never be severely in debt and how to manage my money in such a way that I can drive the debt collecting scum of the Earth to insanity which I suspect is why Nook disappeared from my game for a couple of weeks. I'm always overworking my brain but I'm not in debt and I've found a way to achieve brief happiness. Happiness isn't constant but neither is truly defeating those that slight us. The only way to maintain a good happy life is by living above those that would.

THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON MY PARENTS TAUGHT ME: I CAN BE BOTH _HAPPY_ WITH, AND _PROUD_ OF, MY DECISION _NOT_ TO HAVE CHILDREN, WHEN I DECIDED I LACKED THE RESOURCES TO RAISE CHILDREN IN AN ENVIRONMENT AS GOOD AS MY PARENTS WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE ME. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU DECIDE YOU WOULD RATHER MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR OWN LIFE, RATHER THAN RISK HAVING CHILDREN AND FINDING OUT _TOO_ _LATE_ THAT YOU CANNOT RAISE THEM IN A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT, AND THEREFORE HAVE A CHILD, OR CHILDREN, WHO WANT IN SOME WAY. BE IT LOVE, GOOD HEALTH, OR THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES AS THEY GROW UP AND MOVE ON. HAVING CHILDREN IS _ABSOLUTELY_ _THE_ _MOST_ _SELFISH_ _SINGLE_ _ACTION_ _YOU_ _CAN_ _EVER_ _PERFORM_ . IF YOU HAVE KIDS "BECAUSE WE WANT THEM", YOU ARE NOT TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE AWESOME RESPONSIBILITY OF PROVIDING FOR THEM, NO, YOU JUST "WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN". IF YOU BRING THEM INTO THIS WORLD, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AN ENVIRONMENT WHICH GUARANTEES THEY CAN THRIVE. _DID_ _YOU_ _THINK_ _FOR_ _ONE_ _INSTANT_ _ABOUT_ _HOW_ _THEY_ _MAY_ _BE_ _AFFECTED_ _IF_ _YOU_ _FAIL_ _AT_ _THIS_ _AWESOME_ _TASK_ ??? I BET YOU DIDN'T. _THIS_ IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING MY PARENTS TAUGHT ME: THINK OF THE _CHILD_ FIRST, NOT _YOUR_ _OWN_ DESIRE TO HAVE KIDS, AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BE _HAPPY_ WITH, AND _PROUD_ OF, YOUR DECISION, WHETHER TO, OR _NOT_ TO... BRING A HUMAN BEING INTO THIS CRAZY WORLD.

Life as a game, lol. Life is a game, and most refuse to flip through the rule book as presented in their specific situation. Is the Prize having a lot of junk and no maintenence while eating grub-hub, or is owning a home the Prize? I own a home, it took being employed at multiple jobs for many years, as well as learning how to do the work myself... plumbing, electrical, and so fort. Such inspired me to obtain PT employment in the Trades as a helper/runner. Meanwhile, many I know have more stuff, mostly junk, they rent, and they conduct themselves as though they are in mid 6 figures... yet they complain about not being able to buy a home? Life choices. Forgo the Starbucks and premimum everything, learn to cook and walk more.

That was deep. I grew up on Animal Crossing, starting with the GameCube version. Always found Tom Nook to be predatory, and the dialog between you and your neighbors boring and vain unless they wanted to play a game or sell me something (or offer me the clothes off their back- especially if a Gracie design). The only one making the town great is you. Which is fine and dandy, except no one cares nor appreciates it. You are also right. If you die, no one will care about what you have compiled. That is why I lowkey stopped playing once I unlocked terraforming, bought the crown with turnip profits (thanks, discord!), paid off my house debts... and that's all folks! The only regret I have is not completing my bug, fish, fossil and deep sea collection at the museum and my lists. Or collecting the neighbors I wanted. But even that is admittedly vain and superficial- to collect neighbors based on their looks. Overall, a fun sandbox game, but it has diminishing returns after a while. Wykyk as they say.
