I look forward to the WW9 I have a UK version, the handwheel is different to most I have seen, and a different bobbin holder more like modern machines. My WW8 bottom tension seems to be a clamp to grip the thread during the LS formation, this is not part of the hook or bobbin holder. I love the renovations you do "stunning", I don't do that I sort of lack the confidence and prefer to make them work and then we use them. I did paint a Jones 1896 with sanding sealer and a a cosmetic soft brush and some meths thinner since the previous owner has stripped all the shellac from the machine exposing the bed of roses to damage. The old lady has put the machine on display in her living room, but now since I told her the modern round shank needle will work she will use it. The machine history is a family friend traced back to the owner as it was when new, which is nice. I used tungsten router bits square/round by hand to scrape the base clean of all the crud, the base had fallen apart it is now fixed and no longer black as pitch. The WW8 base was so soaked in oil it warped out of shape, then the previous owner added shims to the long sides and then made it worse, seem to have fixed that problem. The slight issue I have is I may need to make some new brass needle bar brass bushes, the ones on the machine are quite sloppy. Current project Singer 28k born in 1891 I had to take off all the rusty metal on the case and wood base and pickle them in white vinegar. I found three of these on the bottom of base ? location pegs for a treadle ? photos.app.goo.gl/vzcC52FwSGmJSfSN6 Rust removed with vinegar - washed and into a warm hot pan to dry the moisture - put in foil / plastic tub with WD40. I will blue them or lacquer them later All the best

You're certainly busy! My wife and I were in an antique shop and couldn't believe it when over in a dark corner sat a WW D-9 on a treadle for only $20! We couldn't believe it. We didn't have room for it and already had a WW 9 so we were tempted to walk right on by it, but we couldn't stand to see it insulted by such a low price, so we gave in and brought it home. All the artwork is gone but all she needed was a little oil and she sewed as smooth as butter on a hot day. Once both it and the WW 9 are restored I'll make a side by side comparison video of them. Our house is getting so full of sewing machines we may have to tear out the front bathroom to make room for them. 🙂

@@wayneschmidt490 I have been trying to post some photo links but YT is stopping me ? Shame they are my WW8 and WW9 UK versions of the machine, I might try tomorrow.

Beautiful and unusual! Too bad it couldn't have been improved upon, thereby continuing it's production.

One excellent design factor I forgot to mention is that because of the rack-and-pinion drive system, it's impossible to drive the machine in the wrong direction. On a treadle, when going slowly, it's easy for the treadle to stall and suddenly reverse direction. That can't happen on an Avrial.

Le macchine da cucire Avrial in genere vendono da $ 1.000 a $ 1.500 americani. Grazie per aver commentato! La traduzione di Google ha identificato la tua lingua come italiano. Sei in Italia? Sono dall'altra parte del mondo, nel sud della California, negli Stati Uniti.
