I love your use of what I would call shotgunning knowledge transfer, That is your ability to say the same idea in so many different ways that one of them is bound to stick to every person who watches this video. The reason some of these videos are so long is that you say the same thing over and over in a different format, and one of the formats works for every person here. It truly is an amazing ability you have.

I can not thank you enough for the Biochemistry lectures. This class has been very overwhelming for me in an already very busy semester but after watching your lectures, I was actually able to recall steps and images. Both the diagrams and the written explanations are so helpful! Thank you once again!

It is easier to calculate the number of ATP made if you do: 10 ATP per Acetyl CoA 2.5 ATP per NADH 1.5 ATP per FADH2 instead of going back to the citric acid cycle Thank you for this video. Great help!

Can someone explain me why we need to subtract 2 ATP molecules? In the lecture on the activation of fatty acids it seems like we would only have to subtract ONE molecule of ATP (the one that's used up to form acyl adenylate). Thanks already in advance and a huge thank you to Andrei!!

nice stuff very helpful,keep up the good job,,,although I am confuse coz in my calculations I find every time 131 moles of ATP minus the 2 used we remain with 129 moles of ATP,,,what am I doing wrong?
@Man_Aashiqe_sarmastam
3 жыл бұрын
Actually it's because you're doing it as 1NADPH=3ATP 1FADH= 2 ATP 1GTP= 1ATP SO, 3(31 NADPH) = 93ATP 2(15 FADH) = 30 ATP 1(8 GTP) = 8ATP. ADDING, 93+30+8= 131 ATP. Then after subtracting 2Atp, we are left with 129 ATP. HOPE IT MAKES SENSE NOW, WHY WE HAVE 129ATP ANSWER IN LIPPINCOTT REVIEW BOOK.

Why does it take -2 ATPs (not 1 ATP) to activated the fatty acid?
@mpc7440
Жыл бұрын
The activation reaction cleaves off two phosphate groups from ATP (to form AMP), so it uses the energy equivalent of two ATP molecules. I wish he clarified that a bit more. As far as I know, it doesn't actually use utilize two molecules of ATP.

What does 2.5 atp really mean.. When atp is a single molecule... Pls explain ..
@ijasahammed1630

What doe it actually mean .. 2.5 atp should be like 2 atp and .5 atp... In that case what is .5 atp...
@sourajitdas6000
2 жыл бұрын
It is simply the energy equivalent. Lets say 1NADH= 2.5 ATP. This sentence means the energy one NADH holds in terms of joules or kilojoules is equivalents to the energy of 2.5 ATP molecules.

How can you have a point 5 of ATP ( 0.5 ATP or 1.5 ATP ) ?!?!?!?
@prettyadjoadaniels2572
5 жыл бұрын
From the electron transport chain Nadp pumps a total of 10 protons of with 4 is needed to make 1 ATP hence out of the 10 u can get 2 ATP (8protons) remaining 2 protons making half ATP that's the 0.5. The same idea is required for fadh2 it pumps 6 protons.
