CLOSE YOUR EYES....get a small ball, drop it and catch it before it hits the floor. REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT. at first, you will try to just time gravity... effective, but not true sensory elevation. Keep going...you will eventually FEEL THE BALL falling, and your hand will just go to it. THIS, I KNOW....

zeno sama You're both right. As suggested in the video we are taught to use pin point focus with our eyes and rely less on the peripheral vision, we learn to do the same with our hearing. We've all experienced times when we zone out watching tv, reading or listening to instructions, when the background seems to disappear and we only hear what we're focused on. The ears are not the only organ that registers sound, they are the only organ that enables us to register noise as sound , because sound is vibration any and every living cell is able to feel that vibration. When the senses are in a hieghtened state of awareness we are less pin pointed in focus and as such our cells notice the vibration as much as if not more so than the ears register the vibration as sound.

I've experienced this many times after over ten years of traditional martial arts and wrestling. However, as stupid as it sounds, I've experienced it more in video games than in any other physical instance. Vision begins to blur, you focus on movement, your surroundings, your opponent(s), you broaden your senses to take everything in at once and see everything. Nothing takes priority, you see everything and how you fit into it. From my experience, the more familiarity you have with the task you are trying to flow into, the easier it is to get into this state.
@TheBioneer

It doesn't sound stupid to me. Imo video games - fighting games in particular - might be one of the closest situations to actual fights in how Flow State can function similarly to Ultra Instinct. Game knowledge equates to knowledge of fighting principles. Muscle memory of combos, inputs, and techniques equates to the learned moves and maneuvers of a fighter. I've experienced it before. My vision blurred a bit, I kinda just stopped thinking, and I simply reacted. My mind knee unsconsciously what to do and my body performed the muscle memory. It may not have been a Mastered Ultra Instinct, but I do believe it was at least Ultra Instinct Sign.

Holy shit so i have had this happen to me in middle school like 8 years ago. We were playing dodgeball in gym and it was me(1) vs 5 others. I was never good at sports because i was chunky. Not obese, but just not in a shape to be athletic. So i was panicking because my teammates were cheering for me, some were groaning because they know i am useless in these situations, and here i am against 5 guys with about 13 balls. So i remember everything moving in slow motion and my panicked face, according to my friend, resembled that of Goku's. Suddenly serious and just an angered look. So before one guy throws a ball, before ANYONE even raises their arm, i extended my arm and a milisecond later a guy threw a ball and i caught it. Out. Then another guy threw another and i caught that one with my other arm. 2 more threw their balls at the same time and i just moved my chest to dodge. Not even moving positions or my legs. The last guy threw his ball while the other 2 were running to get more and i caught that ball with the 2 balls i had in my hand. Out So now it was a 4(me and the 3 guys who join after catching the balls) vs 2(the 2 that ran) and i didnt even look and threw the balls at my teamates and told them in a menacing voice "now its our turn". We won that match Man i wish i can get that back cause apparently i was terrifyingly menacing in that situation.

I'd hear everyone calling for the ball but their shouts were muffled/quieter, and everyone seemed to be moving slowly. Everytime I shot the ball in that state I scored a screamer of a goal, top corner. Perfect. One coach one time screamed MAGIC!ABSOLUTE MAGIC!! Flow is such an amazing feeling all the more so when you can experience it for extended periods

I've been into meditation heavily, and one of the meditations I do is best described as a flow state. What I do is I decide how long I want to meditate, divide that time by 8, and In that amount of time frame that I divided I continuously close and open my eyes while visualizing every detail in my room. It got to the point in which my back was against the door, and I got some sort of "ping", as the best way I can describe it, that the door opened up and I said hello in response to the ping to my niece before she opened the door, she was shocked and so was I! I also would admit that I've tried marijuana at a friends house after I got done with my meditation at my house, and I had a 30 and 0 game on call of duty (cliche, I know) but I felt as if I knew where every single person was in the game...I started making accurate calls from across the map. I believe this shit is real and not bullshit; this is literally how Rambo can be seen as a true story. O.O;

It takes more than repetition it's dedication, pain, love, passion, fear, compassion, anger , depression, time, sacrifice, struggle, doubt all that goes into the mastering of your craft the good and the bad , being overwhelmed physically but not mentally , competition and inspiration , motivation thru failure for success , persistence and patience; BUT I believe it cannot be triggered unless your heart and soul is not in it...... There is no success without the struggle the yin and yang. Until you deal with your internal struggles your emotions will control your thought process, being able to accept that struggle is the key too releasing your mind knowing who you are internally and being at peace with yourself . Knowing your weakness along with your strengths not carrying a burden of past mistakes but accepting those mistakes as a tool for change and growth....... THE BEAUTY OF STRUGGLE

If you have a job where you must perform repetitive movements then you will find it easy to attain "ultra instinct"... Yes true! Eventually your body starts to take over when you're completely in the rhythm. You are probably sensitive to the psychological stress and the performance anxiety of sports competition, it is making you enter into a fight or flight state probably which means increased epinephrine( adrenaline). A lot of modern people have 21st century syndrome which means people are emotionally fragile, stressed out and afraid. You become sensitive and your body can spazz out and react unconsicously on its own.

Though it has the opposite affect that mushin seems to have. The awareness I experience just makes the terror worse. The way that I'm aware of things around me to the smallest degree plus the terror that panic attacks already bring just makes it worse. I wonder if I could achieve it if I could master the terror part. Not even sure if I'm making sense but I wanted to share and possibly get some input.

Strangely the zoning out of your vision to the wide angle as he described is something that people with ADHD can do naturally I remember I've been able to do this for as long as i can remember i would use it at martial arts and i know for a fact that i was able to react better (for reference I've been doing takewodo for 12 year since i was 6) funnily enough ever since watching dragon ball i actively tried to get into that state of mind and focus method. Another note something that i tried to do was a method described in The Wheel of Time series, the method described and the flame and the void. basically its where u imagine a flame burning away all emotions and and distactions which allows you to focus on a goal better. i was never able to achieve this though

Love me some mushin. Used to date a girl who paid enough attention to be baffled by my unfocused/wide-focus gaze. "What're you looking at?" she'd ask. "You." "Where?" she would ask, trying to lock eyes. "All of you." It's hard for some people to grasp. I remember other black belts looking for signs that would telegraph movement during classes: "Watch his eyes!" they'd suggest in desperation, yet remain confused at their lack of gleaned information. You're relaxed, yet aware; both calm and prepared to explode into action. The only difficulty lies in not becoming overconfident as you realize how unprepared your opponent is, still unaware of just how bad their situation is 😶

Thanks :-D I can't say I know, really interesting question though! Perhaps this is something you could achieve with advaaaanced meditation. Otherwise, if you were engaged enough with the task, then perhaps you could maintain intense focus. It would be exhaustive though - it could potentially lead to adrenal fatigue. Like I say, really interesting question... I'll do more research :-)

Wanna know a fun fact? People with ADHD have an easier ability to access flow since they have decreased blood flow already, hence why people with adhd “Hyper Focus” on tasks they really really enjoy. I do it a lot and it’s really just a mindset you put yourself in. It happens everyday to me at my job, or my hobbies like coding and playing video games. Even exercising.

I think this happened to me on Saturday. My cousin was over and we were playing a game on my trampoline. It's called Mummy Mummy and it's Tag but "It" has their eyes closed (This is on a closed netted trampoline BTW). Normally it's three or more people but we were playing 1v1. When it's 1v1, every little sound and movement tells them where you are so it's relentless. My cousin would be it and I was so fast at changing my directions. I would bait him into running towards me and then narrowly dodge being inches away but never touching. I was able to do this consistently. I outran and outdodged him. Then when I finally got tagged like a minute or two in, I would immediately tag him again within twenty seconds. I can tell it was something special because the next day, it was the opposite. He would tag me quickly and I couldn't easily tag him

"Mushin no mushin" is the way I learned it, and indeed, it is the mind of no mind. To be calm and still at peak performance. It is something I experienced many times working in trees near high voltage lines. I had to face the tree to prune the limbs, yet be aware of the power line inches from my back, in order to avoid electrocution. In this, my karate training was invaluable. Breath control and body awareness enabled me to complete tasks others felt overwhelming.:)

Greetings Jason, I used to be a tree trimmer for a subcontractor that contracted from the Texas Power and Light Company. Man what a job. I became strong and agile. One has to know what he's doing when removing those limbs near a power line. If memory serves, it's the second or third most dangerous job according to OSHA. One can easily over analyze a situation and cause himself issues. I remember I would get a mental picture of the tree and its relationship to the lines, I'd visual a plan of what had to be done and go to work, not thinking about it, just doing.

I think stress is quite important for flow,it has helped me a lot. I remember when studying a concept on the day before a test it is easy to get into a flow state. Also when i had to give a speech in front of hundreds of people i could easily deliver it without over thinking,it felt like a bliss. One of my friends said he acheived something similar when he was talking to a girl that he was into. Stress is a pre- requisite to flow,its akin to preheating an oven before baking the cake.

could this flow state also be accompanied by any kind of kundalini sensations?(tingling, energised, and possibly high-like state) Because i have had something simular happen when i play my xbox when i get pissed off yet stay level headed(got anger issues and been teaching myself not to give in an say "fuck it".) but do you think it has any connections with such states as that?

I believe there are some distinctions between Mushin and Mushin No Shin. Mushin No Shin means mind of no mind. There is also Misuno kokoro which means mind like water, and tsuki no kokoro I think means mind like the moon. Taiyono yo nikini means mind like the sun. My spelling isn't perfect but good enough to research. I think you are quite possibly near if not well into the genius level. you give that impression.

So in my case when people have push me tp my limit, i kinda lose control, lose technique and any sense of anything, all i worry anout is my target, i will use nothing but brute blunt attacks. Mushin is different than the flow state. It isn’t a perception of losing time, or losing track of time. It literally feels like time has slowed down all around you. I’ve experienced it once when I was a kid, many years ago. I’ve never been able to trigger it again. Mushin, is the ability to trigger that state at will. The ability to ‘control time’, as the old masters might have said. It’s why many martial arts techniques don’t work in real life, because you can not move fast enough to make them work, but Mushin, is the missing link many are looking for to make their traditional arts effective. It’s not controlling time, or slowing it down, it’s over clocking your brain basically. Your brain starts firing faster, way, way faster. Thus making it appear as if time has slowed down. Think, the Last Samurai, and how when he was perceiving the future of the outcome of a battle time would slow down. It’s exactly like that but your in the present, not seeing a premonition of what will be.

I experience the flow state when I write and I used to experience it a lot when I was a cook and had to juggle many different orders at one time - The most amazing thing is to wake up in a flow state while your eyes are still closed, the insights you have are fantastic and it's very easy to solve problems that, the day before you could not find a solution for - I believe some people mistake this for finding a solution during a dream, but you are awake and you can sense that there is a very intense effortless thought stream, informing you, at a high certainty level - The body may still be asleep but it's not a lucid dream

I did some meditation, and used wide angle vision by doing your technique to watch my fingers while staring straight foward. After doing that for a minute or too and really straining the range of my vision, I felt very aware and my entire environment felt very real, like I was processing everything. It was awesome, but very scary. I was able to go back to my usual feeling of direct vision, but man, that technique you described really works! If I can really balance these two states by will, I can probably put them to use whether it be for work or for physical activity. This flow state thing is really interesting!

Exotic Butters I watch naruto. well in naruto there is the ability known as the sharingan which grants the user the ability to see straight through an opponents attack and predict what the opponent's about to do. For example if someone tried to punch me and i had the sharingan I would be able to dodge and counter because I see straight through it. one character had the sharingan and stated that he "could see everything". Implying that if you see an attack you could dodge it. I took this to heart when I was 8 and my school at the time set up a game of dodgeball. I was the last person standing on my team.

Even though Goku has entered Mushin it still has limits, he has to cultivate it by simultaneously switching to Zanshin (Remaining Mind). Goku’s first attempt of Ultra Instinct is he is reacting without his mind so his body’s focus was evasiveness not strength. Second attempt he is able to unleash Ultra instinct his mind and body, but again he Goku was focus on speed and evasiveness. When he is focus on evasiveness, his overall strength is weaker than base form. He needs his body to be focus on evasiveness and his mind to focus on attacking. This is when Mushin and Zanshin simultaneously state of minds must be used.

I achieved mushin by accident by attempting to think about nothing. As a kid I was told it was impossible to think of nothing so I just naturally started focusing my mind to think of nothing to prove that wrong. Its like being awake but meditating at the same time like meditating but you can move and react and engage in every day life. I studied martial Arts and never knew about mushin until delving into ultra instinct.
