Interested in being a GP in rural Ireland?
Prof. Liam Glynn combines being a GP in a small rural practice in the scenic village of Ballyvaughan, in Clare, with an academic role as Professor of General Practice in the University of Limerick.
Dr Glynn has been a GP in Ballyvaughan for over 25 years, sharing the practice with a large multidisciplinary team and 2 other part-time GPs.
The myth of a rural GP working alone with no supports and long hours is outdated. GPs now work as part of bigger teams, have more time off while retaining the fulfilling community-based continuity of care.
And even getting in a lunchtime swim in the Atlantic!
