My new video series is on back pain! Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek physical therapy and one of the most common reasons people go to their primary care doctor. Depending on the study, between 45-80 percent of people experience back pain at some point in their lifetime and it is much more common in the older adult population. Back pain can be caused by many different factors. The exercise prescription for back pain is different depending on the cause of the back pain. This video is about strains and sprains. A strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon. A sprain is an injury to a ligament. This commonly occurs due to improper body mechanics or lifting too much weight. Sprains and strains can be associated with swelling or bruising to the area and sore muscles or muscle spasms. It may also be sore to the touch. In this video I am going to show you the best physical therapy exercises for back sprains and strains.
