This poem delights in the sensual pleasures of motherhood, and the intimate love of a baby. The Mississippi poet laureate, Fennelly wrote this poem for her book Tender Hooks, which Library Journal called "a smart and vivacious book."
Fennelly has also written essays, micro-memoirs, and a novel with her husband, Tom Franklin. She teaches in the MFA program at the University of Mississippi.
Sarah Luckadoo reads an introduction to offer context and background on the poet and the poem. For more information about HoCoPoLitSo's live or recorded programming, visit www.hocopolitso.org.
