+Kharimi Nougat Your opinion. Also, alcoholic/addict is such a relative term. There is no "bottom line," because the definition of what an alcoholic is is purely arbitrary. I don't think the guy in the video gave nearly enough information for you to label him. You're going off of Western guidelines, probably set forth by the DSM (what a crock of shit that fuckin' thing is). I think you're ignorant when it comes to this topic. It is not cut-and-dry
@lLenn2
8 жыл бұрын
+Damien Cross I'd call him an alcoholic aswell. 6 days a week, wakes up feeling regret of what he did the day before and that regret is because he texted something wrong to someone (meaning he's drinking home alone) and still drinks that same day (probably to forget about that regret). Yeah, that's the addiction. And before you call me ignorant on the topic, I'm an alcoholic myself and even if he's not an alcoholic right now, the chances are that he might become one later in life. At the very least he realizes it now at his young age.

I'm a 47 year old Irish American Alcoholic who quit boozing just 29 days ago but I don't take any chances with will power, I take the drug Disulfiram also known as Antabuse. This drug makes one feel sick if one drinks, you also break out in a cash and puke and it's nasty. I used the drug in the past to go on the wagon for a month but now with a kid who is 3 I'm done with drinking and it's great having a drug that helps take drinking off the plate.This last week I went out to a bar with a friend to watch some pay per view MMA fighting on the bar big screen. I had fun and I stuck to cranberry orange juice and when i told people about being on the wagon everyone is supportive. I hate AA for a few reasons and it works great for lots of people but It's not for me. I dabble in stand up/story telling and this next year I'm stoked because without the booze I'm a lot more amusing. Carry on with your great work, your a voice of many for all the bullshit we put up with.

Great advice, it's funny cause people usually drink to ease the social anxiety cause they think it will help them meet girls or whoever they want to meet. But the reality is if you use that time that you would be drinking and dumbing yourself down, to learn about something, or a new skill - that actually helps you get the quality girls (the ones you really want) instead of the dumb drunk ones. Btw. hell yes on the 10 days to faster hands workout, Mike Johnston is a beast and being good at drums is 100X more fun than being drunk.

I hate it; I work in a bar and enjoy a few drinks here and their, but watching drunks stumble around every night is really disillusioning. The bad part is my gf works 9-5 and usually comes by the bar when she's finished and sits around getting piss drunk "waiting" for me to finish work at 1am...so if finish and have to immediately carry her home. Or if I want a beer when I'm done working all night, have to put up with her being 7 pints deep and slurring/falling over...it's not relaxing.

But sometimes im walking on the street, or riding my bike (im dutch ;-)) And i get the uncontrollable urge to start riding like a maniak, and slap every telefone out of womens and young girls hands (because its ALWAYS women who do this shit ! Sometimes a guy here and there, but i bet within 10/15 years they have to remove thise phones operativaly from their hands ! They're addicted to those things) but regarding ur GF. just explain i hate to see u drunk, and 1am i have to go home u being drunk, and i have to take a beer by myself, waiting for the next day ? same shit all ove again ? The other day when i'm waking up, i feel like shit, and i know if i pick up the phone, i have a shitload of notifications from people, judging me, insulting me, asking if im crazy and stuff lol. (And thats only my telephone, i do shit when m drunk u wouldnt believe probably when i write it down here) I know exactly how you feel. Try, and i know how HARD that is (lol) when ur drunk: i have to wake up sober !!! but the chance u listening to ur reason when ur drunk is 50-50. I throw my 'reason' 75% of the times out of the window. Strange thing is, when i was 19/20 (just before i stopped drinking for a long time) i didnt had those agressive feelings at all when i was drunk. i never had a 'bad' drunk. but now ? im the king of assholes when i drink. Agreed. I don't know how useful the term 'alcoholic' is, but he seems to have been hovering around the edge of alcohol addiction for years, judging by how he talks about alcohol. I sounded a lot like Bill when I talked about drinking before my alcohol abuse went totally out of control. Alcoholism isn't a disease you're born with, it's just addiction to alcohol, and it gets worse over time if it isn't seriously addressed. And Bill is in the twilight zone without realising it.

If you don't think or can't come to terms with a power greater than yourself, then you truly are on your own. But AA does say that "a power greater than yourself" can be a group of special friends, a tree, or a chair, as long as you acknowledge that power. I'll remind you of one thing though. Jesus Christ himself did not approve of "legalism" or "religion". I hope you can open your mind just enough to get help.
