So I tried un-subdividing a plane mesh I had used for a sketch I drew to make a bas relief out of. However, when I appended it into my other scene and unsubdivide, I lose all of the relief details on the mesh plane that I used a displace modifier on though...How can I unsubdivide without losing the displace modifier effect??
@quicktechtips42069
Жыл бұрын
I don’t quite understand what you are asking exactly but when you unsubdivide you are reducing the polygon count. So you will loose details inherently.

i find that doing this often results in triangles in some spots but not all . is there a way to repair the mesh in mass after /during the process? i tried "tri to qaud " but it didnt really help
@adamfifield4014

You can add a subdivide surface modifier, it should turn the triangles into quads, but this increases the overall vert count a ton.

Are you still in edit mode? The modifier only works outside of edit mode. You will need to apply it first for you to see it in edit mode.

Idk man. Works for me. You could do the more destructive decimate method. I guess….. Go into edit mode. Select the geometry you want. Click on “mesh” then go down to “clean up” then click on “decimate geometry.” Anything you do with this is going to be permanent tho.
