Hi John, I live local so if you ever want to do a recap using local video, let me know and I'll put something together for you. During this whole time there was no LARGE search/s for her body. It's a large area, but only small searches organized by the family occured and that's odd too. I wonder as mentioned in another post if the small police department overlooked bone fragments in the burned out car of hers. Little dog found down the road, same direction car was driven too at Twin Lakes area. Very sad situation for this beautiful woman.

I don't know about professional cadaver dogs, but when I've taken my beagles with me on many visits to take photos for Find a Grave, they had no problems obtaining the scent, even with graves that were more than 100 years old. I don't know if that would affect trained dogs or not, but it's definitely possible for dogs to alert on that scent in cemeteries.

I'm local enough to this case that I heard Westmoreland County and sighed. There's just so much land out there to search that is totally undeveloped, and I don't think the DAs office has the kind of resources and depth of experience that a no body homicide trial requires. The best hope for this case, in my opinion, is to find her remains. I think the family is right to keep doing searches. When the weather improves, I'll see if any are ongoing and if they need volunteers, try to wrestle some up.

Going to have to call BS on the comment by the prosecutor that charges can't be filled because the suspect is in federal custody.
@lynsirobertson3527
2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure that’s accurate, once in federal custody the state can move forward, but the feds have to be on board…. From personal experience with a good friend of mines boyfriend - he was on parole with fed charges (bank robbery) and while OUT on parole got picked up on state charges, but the state couldn’t move forward until the feds agreed and ran the charges too. That’s here in OK though, and I’m sure it varies by state. Although, I imagine there’s something they could do, even if it’s federally backed only. Something should be done!!
@NeatNoodle
2 жыл бұрын
@@lynsirobertson3527 thanks for the insight. I know it makes things more complicated, but it is possible. The prosecutor has to take additional steps to accomplish it. I should have clarified in my statement. At the very least he could have charges prepared and ready for filing. The family needs to know they aren't being blown off

I can't believe that defense attorney stated to the press that if his client was guilty he would go straight to the body. It's as if he's advising his client what not to do, and sounds pretty close to advising his client how to cover up a crime. Of course that attorney sounds like a moron, so maybe I'm giving his intentions too much credit.

I understand Cassie's mom wanting the trial to start. Everyone might have strong feelings that Stinko murdered her daughter, and there can be compelling circumstantial evidence, but is it enough to nail him? The last thing you want is for the jury to say they are not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt. I think with how badly burnt her car was, there is a good chance the fire was intended to obliterate her.
