When they found remains near where she was last seen, so many checked in about it. I’m in NH and I remember that day clearly. My friends not tied to the missing persons group even talked with me, Hoping it was a clue to what happened to her. We have some others, lots of others, missing, so any grain of hope for closure is always an interest. Thanks for touching on this. We all appreciate you!

Hi, great episode as always. I agree with the amount of missing people. I know there’s a big problem with missing people of all ages… it’s horrifying to know how many more missing are out there as I’ve been investigating a few cases for the last few years and it’s deeper 😢 and bigger than I could’ve imagined I’ve been working on the LISK CASE for the past 3.5 years and this case as well as Maura Murray,Briana Mitland and Erica Jayne Franolich all have been coming up all over lately. The comment thing in these cases and the LISK / GIlgo Beach, Gilbert’s case etc, are all covered up by some of the LE involved with the control money and power… and had held back important evidence for years ! SCPD New York ~ some in power had gone down a few years ago with corruption and now has had an overturn. All these cases are really horrible and a big loss for so many families. I also believe most can be solved 😕 To many afraid to talk or come forward or the involvement being tied to the LE involved. Very scary We Can only pray and hope that all this coverage from your channel as well as other channels for keeping these victims in the light and can help some families get answers and / or find their loved ones for a proper burial. God Bless all of you and the families 🌺✝️🌺♥️🙏🏼

I was only seven when Maura went missing, but it is one of the first missing persons that REALLY stuck in my mind. I check at least a few times each year to see if they've found her yet. I'm now almost five years older than Maura was when she went missing, I just had my first child six months ago today. It makes me wonder what Maura's life would be like now. I know it's not likely but I've always had a tiny sliver of hope she's out there somewhere living a happy life.

This is the most likely scenario imo.I read about so many cases where they did extensive multiple searches without any result and then years later someone literally stumbled upon the remains and it was in the area which had been searched and officially cleared by LE. She also might have been hurt from the collision because it might have taken effect only after a while. That together with the alcohol and the questions about her mindset since she left could have led to Maura getting lost. To me it's a more reasonable scenario than someone having picked her up hitchhiking and then killing her or the idea that she's still living incognito somewhere.

It was the case that sparked my interest in missing persons cases all those years ago. It's really interesting to revisit this now, it seems a little bit clearer with hindsight that Maura was in a crisis mode. If I think about what it would take for me to box up all my stuff, then go drinking & driving on a snow day, I would have to be awfully sad about something. My gut says Maura will eventually be found, just a lot farther away from the crash site that's been presumed. She was a distance runner & could have covered many miles before succumbing to the elements. It's all the sorta internal secrets of Maura herself that for me took this case beyond "basic." So maybe some good can come out of this, if it makes someone seek out help in lieu of running away. I listen to Tim & Lance's missing pod regularly, never saw what they look like 🙃🙃

What are the odds that in the few moments following her crash into the tree with a bus driver and other people around watching that a predator would just happen to come along and abduct her? If you make that left turn that she was supposed to make there is a side road that turns to the right just beyond that curve. I have always thought her accident was a slow motion controlled accident of running into that tree and that someone was parked waiting for her on that side road and she ran in the tire ruts to connect with the person waiting for her. Is confusing because we are trusting in versions we shouldn’t trust . We are trusting the scent dogs are 100% reliable and they’re not. I still think Maura Murray was hiding in the woods when the police come check her stalled car. She saw everything, she saw how her car was towed. After that is a little confusing to me . She probably ditched a ride with a stranger or she just got herself lost in the woods. She was adventurous and athletic, and she wasn’t afraid of being alone in the woods , she loved hiking. The thing here is that she was depressed and she wanted to get lost, a proof of that is that she was looking for places to rent in the white mountains. Obviously the plan didn’t work as planned, but she still got into the woods . I think she just died of exposure. One of her books the police found in her car was “Not without peril” a book about hikers who take the risk and die because of the weather conditions . Is all there . She wanted to go along with her plan no matter what , so she did .

The fact that she had copious alcohol, OTC sleeping pills, and a Physician's Desk Reference (which is strictly a PILL reference book, not a text book that you study...you reference how pills work in what quantities, including what's lethal), plus her misleading story about where she was going, other behaviors, tells me she was planning a suicide attempt. @TheMundusvultdecipi
2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's why police initially reported her as possibly suicidal. There's evidence that she was in a crisis, certainly when you put it all together. The lie about a death in the family, problems with her bf, the car she'd crashed (Fred admitted that she was depressed), she packed all her stuff like she intended to quit school. And reportedly she faced a charge for CC fraud. She tried to reserve a cabin or room where she'd been on vacation with her dad before and seemingly was on her way there, driving & drinking. If someone's suicidal it doesn't mean you have a detailed plan necessarily. You just want the pain to end somehow and leave all behind. She might have pondered taking her life, going back and forth between what to do or at least wanted to escape the pressures and problems to hide out somewhere and decide what to do. It is rare that families admit that their child could be suicidal, there's usually strong denial.

I just don't know and I want to know so bad! I wish we knew her true intentions for lying and headed to a B&B for a short short. Did the alcohol play a big part in her case? As in was she so freaked out that she started walking and froze to death? Did she also have a head injury that mighta played a part in this? Did Someone besides the bus driver come along and pick her up and cause she's intoxicated she agrees to take the ride. And it was an abduction/rape/murder type thing? I know at one time they did some ground scans done in a basement a while back but found nothing. SOOOOO MANY THOUGHTS! Just wish I could work it out.

Put your self in Mauras shoes. If you just crashed while drink driving, were on probation for using a stolen credit, wouldn’t you want to get the hell away from there asap before the police arrived to arrest you with a DUI? I would get in car with the first person who offered me a ride. Of if there was no lift I’d hide in the woods near enough to see when the police were gone before I hitched a ride back to town. She either got in car while the bus driver went in his home to call 911 or hid in the woods till the police had gone then flagged down a passing car.

The DUI thing means she left. By force or choice is hard to nail down. The ground scans in the basement and a cadaver dog led to the dig. I remember a wall being something hit on in the basement. The wall wasn't checked. I wouldn't think of the hiding and catching a ride or hiding until death if not mentioned above. Just as I wouldn't think of a double hard to detect putting a wall (that wasn't checked) right over the part of a basement that the body was buried under. In fact, if you expanded or added a basement, wouldnt a stabilizing wall over the concrete where a body was buried make it more extensive and costly to check under? She may not be in the area at all. It's the thought of what a person could do to make things more difficult to be caught. I have to go back and research bc the wall was my first thought about when I saw digging in the basement was going on. I remember thinking... wrong spot, go to the wall. I posted a comment by itself. Now, I'm replying to this post and the comment above me. I believe y'all know more than I do on the case.

When was the incident involving Maura being arrested by police and charged with using a stolen credit card to pizza? Was she on probation? Because that would of added to her absolute terror of being charged with a DUI and going to jail or being expelled from nursing school. She was probably so terrified of being seen near the crash site by police she flagged down the first car that came along to get away ASAP..
@amandanegrete1306

She was on probation, that’s an excellent point. She was ordered not to get in “any trouble” for three months by the court. Maura disappeared before those three months had passed.
@wulfsorenson8859
2 жыл бұрын
@@amandanegrete1306 yes I don’t see many people mentioned this key point which goes so far in explaining her desperation to get away from the police. If she had been found drunk driving she could of gone to jail and be expelled from nursing school with a criminal record…it would of literally ruined her life. I personally would of risked hitching a ride with the first car who stopped. Or hid behind a tree till the police left to avoid being seen on that road. She could of been hiding for a while and got in a car far later than many think.

I live in Burlington VT. I remember too well when Maura disappeared. We have another (VERMONT) girl missing since she was 17, Brianna Maitland. Would love for you to cover her case.. She used to date my husbands best friend. It's a tragic situation all the way around. SO many people tried to link the two but I don't think that is the case.. She deserves far more coverage than she gets. SOMEONE HAS THE ANSWERS TO bring BOTH these women home

Hello. I felt compelled to inform you that lance misled you when he said that the tree with the blue ribbon, as well as other trees, were cut down for ''safety'' reasons, which is NOT true. If getting rid of the trees was TRULY about safety, why weren't the trees removed 18 years ago??? Also, the weathered barn is owned by Faith and Tim Westmen, who live in the white house on route 112 across from the barn. It served as an antique shop and, although the business is not booming, the Westmens would rope off the parking area so that people who wanted to pay their respects to or say a prayer for Maura Murray, were forced to park along the side of the road, thus intentionally creating a dangerous situation. I find it odd that the trees didn't bother a sole until 18 years AFTER Maura vanished.

I just need to say, I cannot stand James Renner. Back in 2015 when MMM came out, they referred a lot to Renner's blog. Around the same time, Renner teased having new info relating to the case, then used the publicity to promote his book. I will never forget that and often wonder how her poor family felt. He is extremely untrustworthy in my personal opinion, despite having a lot of info on the case.

AFAIK, John Douglas expected all crimes, offenders, Does and missing people etc to be loaded into ViCAP to make it actually useful and he's annoyed it's on a voluntary basis instead of 'they have to be uploaded to this by law.' Sorry for my poor memory but I think it was a talk he gave.

Yesterday I spent all day looking at the Andrew Gosden case. A case where a young guy, in England, misleads his parents, skips school and heads off to destinations unknown and disappears forever. And today we are looking again at Maura Murray, again a case where a young person misleads her school, takes off for Destination Unknown and disappears forever. I think both of them were duped. I think they were conned and encouraged to comply with a mysterious meetup. And of course in Maura's case there was lots of alcohol, which I guess you guys don't want to address. She was vulnerable, then she was taken. There are some new developments in the Gosden case, but they are thin.

Yes, I don't understand why no one mentioned the alcohol and what to me is the most logical possibility: that she was drunk, maybe with a head injury, confused, walked away from the car and eventually died in the freezing temperatures.
