Breath is central to our existence, yet we don’t pay much attention to our breath.
In mindfulness meditation, we pay attention to the breath without trying to influence it. We become familiar with our own rhythm of breathing. Somedays that might be short and shallow, somedays we might be so tense and restless that we can barely breathe at all. Other days, your natural breath will be relaxed and deep and slow.
All of those breaths are normal. They are simply a reflection of your day, your mental-emotional state. Being aware of your breath and just watching is a door to paying attention to your present moment.
