Nice old Shimano and a helpful tutorial. Always a debate on grease vs oil on the spool shaft. Grease makes it smoother, but oil allows the spool to rotate more freely when the clutch is engaged. Thank you!

Yes - good points on the pros of both. Grease lasts longer and I use it because of that. I have seen a lot of frozen pinion gears where the oil has evaporated and the gear rusted to the spool. Grease can help prevent that - Thanks for sharing

Nice old reel. Was the rubber band hitting on the reel foot? Seemed like that was the cause of the spool sticking.
