Wow! just saw this,,,,,,,,hate to say it but I like the 'Music' more than most of any from the 'Cadets' shows!!! Lyrical, musical, easy to listen to- and they actually have some 'sound' since they are not scorching the earth with their feet!!!

An all Pat Metheny Show....something I always wanted to do if I had my own Corps....so many styles and directions you could go with PMG's music.....I would pay to have Lyle Mays arrange

The opener was played by the Crossmen in the early 90's.... Is this a possible feeder for the Cadets junior corps?? Let them get a taste and experience for a lower price?. I read there are high school kids performing.. Great opportunity

Drumline feeds more to Crown than Cadets. But hornline, yes

The original Cadets were what was known, back then, as "Junior Corps." The originals were the Holy Name Cadets. They became the Garfield Cadets when DCI was formed, then the Cadets of Bergen County. They are now based in Allentown, PA, and known simply as The Cadets. They were always good, but achieved excellence under George Zingalli and Tom Hannum as the Garfield Cadets. Cadets2 is George Hopkins entree into DCA, the open age version of Drum Corps. It used to be known as Senior Corps. The DCA corps tend to have smaller horn lines and do shows not quite as difficult as DCI. Cadets2 are entertaining, and the execution is on a par with the better DCI corps. I marched with Reading from 1975-1979. Back then, in DCA, if you put 60 horns on the field it was considered a large horn line. A lot of corps marched 40-50 horns.

There are only a few corps in the DCA circuit that still march 60 horns but quality matters more than quantity.

kt6550 I think the Garfield Cadets name came before DCI, I'm not positive though. My dad marched them in either the 50s or 60s, and he always referred to them as Garfield.

When DCA corps get scored at DCI shows they are typically 20-30 pts behind the top DCI corps. But this is an amazing product for weekends only group. Well deserved.

I love the last thirty or seconds of this! And the rest of it, of course. Those last movements are very fast and complex and aggressive but remain clean, and really show what an all-age corps (though the term's a bit ill-fitting here) can do!

With the exception of 3 people in their thirties, I was the 2nd oldest in the corps being 20. Most people were towards the end of high school (mostly 17).

Such a shame -- used to see them for years as the Garfield Cadets -- Garfield, NJ. I don't think they are from there at all now.

I thought so. Thanks for the update. It's just so sad, my dad may have been in the Garfield Cadets before or after WWII when there where about 30 kids in the group. Also remember the Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights from Newark, NJ. I can't help but wonder if we brought those groups back to the inner cities and Newark today if we could save some teens.

DowntownDomJC "The Garfield Cadets relocated outside Garfield and became the Cadets of Bergen County in 1989." And C2 definitely impacted my life, so maybe it would help some places be better areas
