Today I am in Cancún, a large state in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
Although the city is world famous for its crazy party scene, spectacular sandy beaches and paradisiacal reefs, I will go through my own personal hell.
There's not much I'm terrified of that makes me dizzy just thinking about it, but bungee jumping is high on the list.
Here in Cancún there is a 25 m high tower, which is predestined for a first jump (for beginners and cowards).
The aim of the video is not to show how brave I am - on the contrary. It should show uncut and unembellished how much we humans think about things that are totally unfounded.
Fear is as individual as a person. If you are not afraid of heights yourself, then put yourself in my shoes and use your personal fear as a model and think about how you would react.
Immediately after the jump I felt a positive emptiness as that menhir of fear on my shoulders dissolved into fine sand that seeped into the turquoise blue of the Caribbean. It was also a shame because I thought about it so unnecessarily and couldn't even jump myself on top of the tower because I was rooted to the spot (had to be pushed).
The fascinating thing: Fear is an enormous energy and it is up to us whether we make use of it or whether we let it train us, like a lion from a trainer who has completely forgotten how strong he is!
Insight: I realized how important it is not to allow yourself to be stressed or anxious. Why? Because the body reacts very sensitively (and adversely) to it. I got pimples and diarrhea the morning before the jump...
I can also say that I am now very calm about the thought of another jump. Of course I would still have a lot of respect, but the fear of the unknown is gone because I know that nothing will happen.
PS: If you are in Cancún, don't miss the opportunity. Check with Diego, link to the video and get a discount at the jump.
Негізгі бет 🇲🇽 Cancun. Today I face my fear of death. First bungee jump with a crass fear of heights.
