I attended a talk by Gary Lansing at a Star Trek convention just a few years after the episode aired. I was surprised that he looked younger and healthier in person than on-screen. He was surprised and pleased that viewers still remembered his performance.

The producers of the TV series "12 O'clock High" replaced Robert Lansing (Gen. Savage) with Paul Burke (Col. Gallagher) partly because they wanted a younger looking lead. Paul Burke (1926) was two years older than Robert Lansing (1928).
