Nice! I always felt that pound for pound, kalas and palani fight just as hard as or harder than omilu or papio.

Great video! Huge mahalo for showing how much limu you put on. I don't get too much action when I do it but it could be because I put about 1/4 of the amount of limu on the line. I am going to try again in a couple of days so thanks again for sharing your method!

Good luck! yes the longer strands are the best, the more white water action the healthier the limu and fish haha Can't wait to see your vid of it!

Thanks for covering rigging the limu bait. Another channel tried to cover same but you did a better job covering the hook and leader set up. I noticed that you used bobber. Do you try to set depth? Seems like the bait just free floats. What was your rod and reel rig specs? What was the main line? We have similar situation in Oahu with ledge about the same distance and there's a lot of reef fish. I know get some Nenue but seems like the limu method is not use and want to give it a try. What's the best way to cook the Kala and the Nenue? Oh yeah don't want to sound like a Dad...but you thought of gloves? I never used to use but I pulled out my framer's gloves (open ring, index and thumb). Makes it safer to grab almost any fish and helps protect my hands when I have to grab rocks and fingers are easier to use when working rigs. Oh yeah, I also use some good adhesive tape (the kind we use to use when taping joints) and I put 'em on my casting index finger and some spots on ring and small finger.....you know braided line can wear down skin. I might start up channel and cover the glove and tape and how to use this thing called tincture of benzoin to make tape really stick...it does come off in water...better than water proof. I used to work in healthcare. Thanks! 🤙

Thanks for the feed back! I use a bobber mostly for casting distance and control in the white wash, if possible free lining is the best. The rod is a medium actuion travel rod with 20lb braid in the reel ( i use the penn fierce line up). Cooking wise, Grilled kala is amazing throw it on the grill and as the skin start to peel put butter under the skin. Nenue we usually make spicy mayo and siracha poke. Gloves are a really good point haha thing is sometimes when its really hot out i hate how hot my hands get (im sure more expensive better quality gloves would be great). Braid can be brutal on the fingers for sure haha a small piece of electrical tape is my go too, cheap and effective. Thanks for watching!

You can use a clear bubble or just straight lines. Some areas the floater will scare them

15lb test fluro is the best, however I am using 20lb in this vid since thats all I had haha they do tend to see the thicker line easier so its better to go smaller.
