I’m the biggest #9 fan ever. Trust me. But I gotta say Denny. I’m starting to like you more and more. Your show is super educational. And you admitted to being wrong lol. I hope you win a title. I don’t want you to end up like Mark Martin. A super elite talent that doesn’t get the credit he deserves. But to win you have to take chances. 2nd place is fine in the regular season but come playoff time it’s 1st or last.

I think many people regard Mark Martin as one of the greats still, despite no title. He won so many races, beating the best and frankly, the title of being a “champion” has never been the same, since the Chase format came in, in 2004 and I think it was further tarnished with this playoff format. Just my two cents. I think of Denny as one of the greatest drivers over the last twenty years.

If you want to change Texas, make it a smaller Fontana; flatter D-shaped oval that is still high speed. Make the pavement abrasive; don’t use the stuff from Michigan that is nuke-proof. Don’t put chemicals on it. Put the slightest bit of progressive banking in to make it multi-groove. Sweeping front straight away is safer than the three-section dogleg we have now and would still be OK for the grandstand configuration. No external infrastructure change needed. I’ve put way too much thought into this; but honestly this is the kind of thing that could be modeled and iterated on iracing or other sims and I’d be very interested to see the results.

Not to rain on your parade but you’re describing what original Las Vegas and Kansas were. They were decent but not great. Plus if you do that then you have to wait another 3-5 years for the track surface to age in order to have an apron to wall racing groove. If you’re going to stay with the current walls it’s almost better to do a Homestead style banking. It’s more progressive and it’ll wear in faster.

They need to fix how lapped cars get their lap back. It's not really fair the cars more than 1 lap down because they have an unequal/unfair path to getting a lap back compared to everybody else. The 2 lap car could pass all the 1 lap cars (but he still has another lap to make up on them under green and there's just no way) but then still has to start behind them again on the next restart. He can't even get a lap back unless there are no other cars 1 lap down. It's not a just rule at all. They should get passes too to make it fair.
