One of the most thorough explanations I’ve ever witnessed. Kudos!! I recently bought a 2012 Chevy Impala that has three distinct issues related to this video. I’m unable to pump gas without the nozzle, constantly shutting off a PO455code, and a PO446 code. The gas tank issue started Day 1. The codes were intermittent and are now permanent. I was going to replace to vent solenoid off the bat. Note I’m going to get a thorough diagnostic run first. No sense in changing parts that don’t need it.

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair Kit, as a general question, when someone is unable to pump gas into their 2012 Chevy Impala, would you suspect the canister is the issue if the purge and vent solenoids work as intended?

@@mattswartzer that's usually caused by a blocked vent solenoid or a restriction on tthe solenoid tube!

I can really appreciate the full diagnosis of the full system, purge valve, vent valve, purge hoses and lines and the FTP Sensor at the end. Actually with the scan data given it was easy to see from the beginning that the FTP Sensor was the problem. For video training, great job, for charging the customer for diagnostics, if this was done in one hour or less great, if it took more than one hour and you charged more than one hour, huge problem. I have seen a KZitem Channel where a guy was doing the most simple troubleshooting step by step to verify each and every little step of the way, he then used up his ONE HOUR and said on the video that he needed to ask the owner for another hour. His process was completely wrong, it was worse than a beginner level but when he asked for more time, I WENT OFF ON HIM in the comments, if that was my car, we would be going to court. As for your video my friend, please be careful about how much time you spend, with your ability to EDIT your video shorter, we don't know how much time you used to diagnose the easy-to-see actual problem of the FTP Sensor, hopefully, less than the typical one-hour diagnostic fee, no worries. Otherwise please be careful what you say in the video about the time needed for diagnosis. In your specific case study, I would notice the voltage is not 1.5V on the scan tool, I would pull the gas cap to release any pressure or vacuum and if nothing happened I would have gone straight for the wires and voltage readings as you have done on the scope and not wasted time on all the other components. I have mentioned to you before about you repeating your words again and again. Sorry but this 15 minute diag and EDIT in the repair should not have been more than the standard 20-minute video, you are a smart guy, please make shorter videos, that is my feedback, much appreciated.

This is probably the best demonstration of troubleshooting an evap code I have seen, thank you. One question, does the light clear itself once the issue is fixed? I had failed an inspection due to an evap code. I suspect on my 2004 Chevy Impala it’s the purge solenoid, and going to replace it, but I do not want to clear the DTC’s once I fix it because then I have to wait at least 2 weeks for the monitors to be ready again for the inspection.

I just had Auto Zone use their code meter on my 2010 Chevy Impala. The P0446 code was found. For the past year when fueling up my car the gas station fuel pump will stop filling my tank after a few gallons. I then have to take the nozzle out of the car and reinsert the nozzle to pump a few more gallons and then the same process happens. It can take up to 10 reinserts to fill my tank. Do you have any information about what causes this to happen? If you have a link to a video or website for me to go to I would appreciate you heading me into the correct direction. I don’t want to take up your time as I’m sure you are busy. Thank you for any information you have to give. I watched this video and it made perfect sense, great job!!

I got this same exact code. A guy who use to work on cars said because it’s P0446 that I’ll likely have to replace my whole catalyst converter… I don’t think it is that at all since I can’t find any info online. I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu. What do you think ?
