Most of the time I make it without the Katsu just some sushi rice but the fried chicken cutlet just sets it over the top. most Americans want to go to japan for video games or anime, I wanna go for cars and food :) Also if you can make this Kare you have a base of making curry from any country most will be just as easy.

it is VERY easy, one of the most common meals in the world. Learn this one and you have the base to cook all kinds of curry. If your a new home cook I would highly recommend. Its cheap and very simple and super delicious. If you like the Katsu I would also recommend making Chicken Kara'age very similar dish but with dark meat chicken

For those who want to store these for example a quick meal prep, put all the battered and panko’ed chicken in a container or wrap them in Saran Wrap and put them in the fridge (or freezer for long term)

Katsu curry is my favorite. One tip is add cheese to the katsu curry. Think of the curry as Asian chili. I found this awesome combo at coco ichibanya a chain that basically specializes in katsu curry

There are opposing schools of thought on this but after hundreds of Cutlets, I've found that butter flying and then doing just a little pounding beats trying to pulverize a whole breast flat.
