I don't think ppl realize how badly clark is struggling with lois being sick. This had been building the entire episode. It's really been building since clark started having those nightmares . Candance dad punching John just gave clark the excuse he's subconsciously been looking for. Notice lana and Sarah's face they felt the energy shift to a very dark place with clark they are the only two in that diner that understood in that moment how much danger that man was in. Look at the concern on lana face when he slammed the man's face down she sees clark is going through it. Also, Candace father is extremely lucky he wasn't alone when clark found him because I think clark would have done something he would never forgive himself for.

As angry as Clark Kent was at Emmitt for hitting his son and threatening his wife, I don't think Clark would have gone too far. He was as civil as he could be in this situation, he didn't attack Emmitt at all, he completely restrained himself throughout the entire encounter, and even when he threatened Emmitt he planned to stop him within the limits of the law. The truth is that Clark Kent could have done far worse, but chose not to. It shows how much in control Clark is of himself, even when he is rightfully angry.

I loved the reference to the bar scene in Man of Steel on 1:07. This scene was 1 of the most intense in the show since Clark knows how much he has to hold himself back in dealing with his emotions because of his powers, but despite his restraint, it shows that he's not a pushover. Emmett has no idea how easy he got off with just getting threatened by Clark when Tal-Rho attacked Jordan and Clark beat the crap out of him, and he's Superman's brother. Moral of the story is, never mess with Superman's family.

I really like this scene. It shows Clark’s kindness, morals, restraint of his powers, serious side, and protectiveness for his family. 0:27 0:39 0:46 Clark being the better person by attempting to have a talk with Emmitt so the situation doesn’t escalate and he doesn’t do it in front of Lana, Kyle, Sarah, and, most importantly, 0:58 Candice emphasizes Clark’s morals and wanting to do the right appropriate thing to do with this type of situation and dealing with a bad person. 1:04 1:07 Clark not throwing the first punch after Emmitt continued to make it difficult and 1:12 using a minimum necessary amount of his strength to restrain Emmitt emphasizes Clark’s restraint of his powers. 1:16 1:35 Clark’s rare use of intimidation to intimidate Emmitt that he will come for him if he threatens his family again and sells another drug and Lois will expose him that will end with him going to jail emphasizes Clark’s serious side and his protectiveness for his family. 1:15 Which Clark’s intimidation even surprised and shocked Lana, Sarah, and even 1:51 Kyle. 1:55 Clark politely apologizing to everyone for the situation and tension afterwards, especially 2:02 Candice for having to see that and 2:12 taking her to see Jon emphasizes Clark’s kindness.

Clark and His father were considered legendary farmers and workers in Smallville and that was while Clark was just a teenager, now 20+ years later he's 6'0 something, decently built, well muscled and has been living back on his farm for a pretty decent while now. Pair that with Emmit barely being any bigger than Jonathan and in terrible shape, along with Clark being ready it's definitely not something most people would bat an eye to beyond "Damn that was crazy".

The guy must been pushing up to get his head off the counter, thinking: "He's just got his hand on my back, it's a stupid way to hold somebody down..." Except the arm is a steel bar, and the hand is one of the most solid things on Earth...

This scene was actually the first scene I watched of this show and it actually motivates me to watch the show. This show has absolutely perfect casting for Superman and the super family and this show does everything so well. The way Clark handles this man, defends his family without crossing the line and just letting him go is really quite admirable and good fitting his character so well.

It was the look on Lana's face knowing the truth about him that changed. Normally he takes the punches and pushing down but this time he flexed just a little bit of who he really is without explicitly telling his secret. In that moment Clark was like I am the Alpha ( little Teen Wolf reference). But also displayed his humanity that makes him Clark Joseph Kent and not just Kal-El. Hes been struggling with Lois being sick and not being able to help her even though Kryptonians are scientifically advanced. Hes the most powerful person in the world and feels powerless against a human sickness But he's been bottling up his anger and rage and using every ounce of humanity that Johnathan and Martha taught him and struggling to stay in control of his emotions.

This is clark kent Superman. It's probably the best portrayal ever imo. He is pissed yet calm, gives him a chance to step outside, only attacks when provoked and his family threatened. Not only that but he makes a threat of lois exposing him, damn I love that so much. I wish superman in other media showed how he knew how to intimidate cause he knows how to.

One of the best Clark scenes ever. So much time trying portray Clark as a joke to preserve the disguise,it's refreshing to see that he does leave a line where can be the real Clark when it counts.

I respectfully disagree. Clark Kent isn't acting anything like injustice Superman. He's clearly restraining himself, which injustice Superman wouldn't do. Not to mention that Clark isn't trying to kill Emmitt.
