Can you do a video on how to get the Captive Portal Authorization page to show? Without it I can’t connect to WIFI and it’s started doing this yesterday only

Thanks. As a comment below nothing seemed to happen on hitting clear host button. Should you expect any response from the system?

I don't know if it worked, but thanks. I had to powerwash a new chromebook after a couple weeks from DNS errors...then DNS and Captive Portal errors. From what I've read online, I think it has something to do with the Netgear Extender my father got (actually a repeater). After the powerwash it's been working fine for a couple days, but now I just had my first DNS error...and I'm guessing more are likely to come. So thanks, I just did this and will do it again every couple days and see if that keeps any complications at bay.

That is strange, it sounds like you definitely have a networking error in your household setup. If your problems started when the repeater showed up, I would suspect that first. You may also want to check the DNS settings on your home router and make sure that the DNS it is using either locally or through DHCP is set to something reliable like Google DNS (8.8.8.8, etc...)

@@iammr.b4849 Thanks, ya it must be. I read some other stuff online about DNS errors and people citing a bunch of different stuff, like turning off WPS in the router settings - and stuff like you're suggesting. I'll have to ask my father what the passwords are/find the SSID's - and then go from there. Check for updates, and then see what the router/extender statuses look like. I just don't want to mess anything up for my mother who now works from home online. Certain things though, like WPS, shouldn't mess anything up though - that's just layers of security as far as I know and we live in a more rural area. Do you know if switching the network settings from independent to google 888 etc. - will mess anything up? I'm thinking most changes will have devices adjust automatically or prompt them to. I'm going to try and change my settings - to the router/repeater settings first anyway. After 'independent' and 'google' servers, there's also the 'custom' network option, so I'm thinking if I can find the repeater's number - setting it to that might do it as well.

You are looking at clearing your history. DNS is more of a back end networking thing that allows your device to find and talk to websites, etc...
