Hiram "Rusty" Williams was from Nelson County, KY (later on lived in Nashville, IL) who was part of a brother duo, Rusty and Dusty. While they were not very successful and John "Dusty" Williams died in 1948, Rusty left a legacy with his great neice who passed some of his music on to me.
Rusty played a two finger thumb lead style common to much of Kentucky at the time. This is a tune he learned from his uncle John Hamilton.
Hiram only played in double C/D tuning which was a problem since neither he nor his brother could sing in those keys. It was one of many reasons why they were never successful.
