ITs a pretty good video. Been learning much myself about welding. The temperature on the gun is too hot which causes the shine in the cap. It's good to experiment with scrap to find the best temp for capping. If the weather is cold or hot can determine your heat gun settings. I have been working on the same colour, dove grey and it's tricky, looks good. Is that 68 mil or 48? I run the gun about 6 when doing the weld and about 4.5 to 5 on the cap and found it has a really nice finish with little to no shine. For the doit your selfers, you have two options, j trim or L trim. J looks nice but is a lot more work. Cheers

Do you need to put a UV protected so the sun doesn’t fade it out… I’m looking to do this on a concrete patio
@mrfantum1

There is no need for any additional UV protection, it can go on to a concrete pad but it would require a little bit more additional prep

I weld at 7.5 and cap at 6.5 usually (seasonal temps permitting) is that pvc coated flashing? Wondering how you sealed the vinyl to house, i usually go behind the siding unless some case specific renovation. Good job. Cheers

This product had a pretty low melting point. I typically set it at 5. I have less risk of burning.

Great video. Is there a glue you can recommend to adhere the vinyl to the top of the metal flashing instead of using a heat gun?
@mrfantum1

This material has to be welded to the flashings

This is made by global decking. Some of the other brands let you use contact cement over the edge of the flashing with a small trim added to the bottom so that you don't have to weld.

Leister heat gun is almost $600. Would one of the $140 knock-off guns work for a one time job? They seem to be within 100W of power of the Leister.

I recently purchased DEC TEC Coolstep to patch a damaged area. Do I leave the edge where it is to be welded free of adhesive? How much overlap? And what’s the temperature setting? Thank you from NJ.

Your supposed to take the vinyl to the bottom of the drip flashing

Not on this product, it's a prefer coated trim that allows you to weld to it.

Also didn’t weld the edge of your bottom vinyl before welding the top and outside edge. Tenting at the wall. Bro you shouldn’t be making videos showing people how to do a vinyl deck. Your just insuring they waste their money and have to have a professional installer come in. How many bubbles you got on it now ?? Lol
@mrfantum1

I have zero bubbles on the deck. Let me know when you have a video up that shows how it should be done.

Clearly a rookie. First using flimsy 50 mil vinyl not roof grade 60 mil or higher. Overlap welds are way to wide an look ugly. You need to counter sink those seams flush. Also using slick back material which no need to cap weld.
