The corona epidemic boosted the Heisei Era quite a bit.

Not sure if you meant it but we are actually in a new era now, an era called Reiwa, the one after Heisei. haha It’s the 3rd year in Reiwa now.

Well, we've divided the 20th century (1900-1999) in spans of 10 years.

Well, in the U.S it's kind of divided by spans of 10 years. For example 60's (1960-1969) we always relate it to the time where music got weird, awesome, and generally very popular, we also relate it to yuppies (hippies), and the really weird fashion that came with the era. The 90s (1990-1999) was a period in which gangster rap really prevailed, alternative rock was really popular along with nu-metal... the kids shows here were awesome... As for me, I was born in the early 90s, Heisei era as well

We don't use era in quite the same way, as a calendar, but we do have them. Both by notable achievements and periods (middle ages, dark ages, renaissance, age of enlightenment, industrial revolution) and by monarchs (Elizabethan, Georgian, Victorian). Not so different. :o)

Lol I completly forgot about playing games like "it". In a way its kind of cool that even though people have different cultures childhood games are still very similar =)

I wasn't criticizing. I think we use the era system much less now. We'd use it to describe a style of architecture (a `period' house - mine's Victorian), but never to describe something recent - so we'd never use a modern queen or prime minster as a reference. Japan is definitely different there. I didn't know that it was still used so I've learnt something. 今も僕には、日本の文化は謎です。
