A deep-dive into the origins of replication. We discuss what makes an origin of replication by looking through the replicon model, replicators, initiators, and ARS in yeast. We also see why origins are important. Specifically, we take an in-depth tour of E. coli origin (oriC), Archaebacteria origins (ORBs), and origins in yeast (ARS) and in other eukaryotes such as mammals. While some origins are defined, we note that eukaryotic replication origins are not defined clearly.
