This video reminded me of a concept called "the principle of sharing" in the book A Severe Mercy. Basically, if your spouse loves something, there's something in it for you to try and love. And the more you work on liking each others things (hobbies) the tighter knit you are. Just like a rope. The more strings that are twisted tightly together, the stronger the cord is.

When it comes to music, I definitely share Sara’s approach. If I hear a certain song and like it, cool. That doesn’t mean I like the band as a whole. Perhaps that’s the only song I like. Because of this my music preferences include dozens upon dozens of different bands which may or may not fit into the same genres.

It's considered the one of the best pieces of English literature, but that doesn't make it easily readable to most people. (Kind of like Shakespeare) What can be really problematic for understanding is the archaic words which have changed in meaning or are never used anymore. Respect to those who wanna use it, but I completely relate to why people don't like it. Because it's God's Word, he can use it for the teaching of his people just like all the other solid translations. :D

I personally gravitate towards ESV and NLT for regular reading purposes. I think it beneficial to look at other translations for study purposes to have a fuller grasp of the nuances of the original language. Some passages (eg Psalm 23 and The Lord’s Prayer) I will always quote in the KJV style, just the way I memorized them and it feels almost more poetic.

Ahh Jordan!! I have to tell you a secret. You’re not paying $35-50 just for the food at a nice restaurant.....you’re paying for the ambiance, the atmosphere, the experience, the luxury......and most importantly - I cannot stress this enough - you’re paying to spoil Sarah, the love of your life, to give her an evening where she feels special, and adored, and like her husband just wants to romance her!! The point of going out for a date is not to eat. The food is a lovely part of it but it’s not the point. The point is to get out of your ordinary routine, to do something different and special together. And the bottom line is, if Sarah wants you to take her out every so often for a lovely date at a nice restaurant, and you can afford it, and the end result of that is Sarah feeling happier and more loved and treasured at the end of it, then surely that’s worth $35?? 🥰 Just my perspective, as a wife who also likes to occasionally be taken out and treated like a Princess!! 💖💖
@heidilarson5109

Boost this - it also sounds like Sarah wants Jordan to make the decision and surprise her, so she does not have to do the mental work of picking what to eat/make. The thought counts.

Guys, man 😂 People like Jordan don't realize that if you're trying to be a humble and modest person, it can be embarrasing to explain that you want to be spoiled for the sake of it, and him bringing up how much it costs can make her feel worse about it.

The KJV is a very good book - definitely very old, but they are still - to date - one of the very few English versions that were translated from Majority texts (Masoretic & Antiochian Texts) which are superior in many ways. But its true - you CAN still understand and get truths of what GOD says from the other versions. And yes, some are better than others.

saying that the only 2 coffees you know is Folgers and Starbucks is the tell as to why you think you dislike coffee!! Please find local roasters for your coffee taste test video when you do it. I would even recommend going to local roaster coffee shops and letting them know you’re doing a video of trying coffee for the first time, and have them give you samples of their brews. Coffee beans all taste different depending on where they are grown, how they are roasted, and temp they are brewed at. So you’ll find plenty of variations and nuances as you try different brands and roasts.

Reading fiction used to be my favorite thing to do growing up, but it has been 7-9 years since I really switched to reading nonfiction instead of fiction, and my outlook on life has changed radically in that time, too. Suddenly I realized that because of all the changes, I no longer know what my favorite fiction book is. It almost feels like a mini identity crisis, but with much lower stakes. Still, I was very surprised by the trip that this innocent little question has taken me on.
