This isn't drag. Not to be nitpicky, but drag is an artform which is a form of expression and entertainment. Eddie is presenting as he identifies mentally. He isn't pretending to be female. If drag is dressing up the way you identify with a particular gender as a way to conform to societal norms set for that gender in certain context, then literally everyone is in drag.... Every time you wear a suit- drag, a uniform- drag, clothes at all (we're born naked)- drag. Why do you wear what you wear? Would it be drag if you had different genitals? What if you had a penis and a vagina? What's drag then? Just some things to think about ;)

My grandfather completed a footrace from Los Angeles to New York in 1928. The race covered 3,423.5 miles in 84 days, or over 40 miles a day. Look up the "Trans-American Footrace" or the "Great Bunion Derby."

Eddie Izzard's description in running those marathons is how I am when it comes to swimming. My personal record in swimming is 12.216 miles in a single day and that "...Zen like... holistic, feral... wrapped up in this other place..." is VERY accurate! I was doing a 215 Mile Swimming Challenge a few years ago, swimming from Oct. 1st to Dec. 23rd raising money for the Houston, Texas region Toys For Tots for families impacted by the flooding of Hurricane Harvey. One donor pledged so much $$ for 200 miles and then a bonus $$ for every 25 miles extra! Ended up swimming a grand total of 230 miles

At age 11 (1994) I was diagnosed with Type One. I was a healthy kid, but type one is an autoimmune disease ... so basically your immune system turns on you and starts recognising your insulin production as bad and starts destroying your insulin producing cells. Anyway, back then I was told I couldn’t do endurance sports with a list of other stuff including careers I couldn’t do. Also you have to fight the perception that your condition is self inflicted and down to poor lifestyle. This is often because people get type one confused with type two diabetes, which can be related to poor lifestyle choices. This was hard as my family was extremely health conscious and I had a mum that was strict with my diet. Even today that lack of understanding is still there. I say this as Eddie’s documentary changed my mind about the don’ts of my condition. Since watching his original marathon journey I decided that in actual fact I could. I am now running the world major marathons to raise awareness of type one to inspire others with type one to run. I have my forth world major booked for Berlin 2020. Because running (especially endurance) requires energy this can be particularly challenging with type one. If I don’t get it right I can be hitting the wall at anytime. It’s an interesting journey and I am constantly inspired by other runners and the various disabilities and conditions that they run with. Thank you Eddie 🙏🏃🏻
