I bought my Eleaf iStick in Denver while I was on a road trip. Unfortunately while making my way back home, I managed to poor coffee all over the device rendering it useless. Saddened, I continued my nicotine-less trek.. I frequently attempted to power on the iStick in hopes of getting my fix. Still a few hours away from home, I managed to get it vaping again. Once I make it home I (without educating myself on dis-assembly procedures) immediately jumped on getting this thing cleaned out. As you may be able to guess, I go to slide the battery and board assembly from the housing and end up with button parts in my screw tray. So today I went searching and ended up on this video, reassuring my second attempt at breaking down the iStick to be a success. Once I had the guts out I realize the button is ruined. For those of you who are in my shoes. This is an easy fix if you have all of the button parts and a soldering iron. Parts you should have found from the button assembly: 1.) A circular sheet of dimpled metallic material - Used to close the contact and spring the button back into position after pressure is no longer applied. 2.) Rubberized button pad - This button is rectangular with the corners missing. It has a nipple on the bottom that would push the contact into the closed position. 3.) Metallic button frame - This is what holds the rubber button in place. It is held in place by four clips which holds the button assembly together. In my case the plastic seat for the button had the left side snapped over but not completely detached. If your plastic button seat has been more severely damaged, the following steps may or may not help you. Proceed with caution. A.) Start heating up your soldering iron and power off the device. B.) Reassemble the button pieces in the order in which they are listed above making sure that the edges of the dimpled metal are lined up with the 4 contacts near the inside edges of the button seat. C.) Press the plastic seat together with a small object like a pair of tweezers or small screw driver. D.) Touch the tip of your iron to the fractured plastic for a second then back it away to see if you need to apply more heat or pressure. Do the same to the opposite side where there would more than likely be another fracture. Once you've welded the plastic back together turn the device on and give the button a go. All in all, my fix turned out well. Even though I prefer max power output I still want the whole device to work properly and now it does. :] I hope someone gets some use out of this post. Results may vary. Attempt to repair at your own risk. Thanks goes to The Toolking

Nice video. Totally enjoyed it! I would love to see future tear downs of all the box mods coming out of China. Comes in super handy when trying to troubleshoot problems friends are having with devices as well as my decision to purchase them. The first time I took my istick apart I broke the voltage down button out by accidentally pushing on the bottom of the battery/internals up while the black plastic was holding the button in still. It didn't take too much force to snap the button right off the board so be careful!

I've an interesting situation. Just bought the IStick 30 watt, Aspire Atlantis tank. .5 ohm coil. The first 2 handed to me at the counter had bad buttons. The third, I drained the stock factory charge in 5 hours, though I was ripping it pretty hard during that time (dem clowdzz). Charged for 6 hours over night, was only a little over half charge when I took it off of the charger the next morning. Vaping @ 25w, 3.8v drained that charge in about 5 hours at work, about 3 smoke breaks and lunch. Thought maybe defective battery. I had a kangertech EMOW @ 1300MAh batt, 1.2 ohms @ 3.8 volts and I was able to get 13+ hours out of it, ripping it pretty hard all day long and at night while playing way too many games of DOTA. I took it back to the shop, got a replacement. Factory charge lasted a bit longer this time, about 6.5 hours. @ 25w/3.9v. I put it to the test this time, and hit it pretty hard. Thought the issue was resolved. bought it @ 5:15, battery dead by 11:31 PM. Charged overnight, just under full charge by morning (about 6 hours on charge with a 1 AMP AC adapter). Started using it @ 9 AM, and its 12:32, battery is on low. My question: Am I simply ripping it too hard/to often @ too high of voltage/wattage? I tried to use www.steam-engine.org/ to calculate battery drain, but couldn't find an accurate C rating/nominal voltage rating. I couldn't even locate the type of batteries in the Eleaf IStick 30watt, but with the stock profile setup and slight adjustments, the calc showed I'd get 18 minutes of run time, or 220 puffs @ 5 sec intervals. I'm still relatively new to vaping, and slowly learning about electrical properties. Does any of this sound normal? Or is my IStick plagued with a defective battery? Am I simply misusing/abusing the device and have unrealistic batt life expectations based on my old EMOW's performance?

Mine was a t5 for the screws but other than that great video. Wanted to see what all would of needed to be done to take it apart, would of never thought to take the plastic face off and pull the buttons first if I tried on my own. Oh and I was actually able to remove the power button without removing the small section of black plastic at the top by sliding the clear piece up a tiny bit.

I only use Eleaf isticks and have five of them...some 40 and some 20. But recently one of them that Ive had for less than a year is messed up. It keeps saying 'lock' but I do know how to unlock it and it doesn't work when i 'unlock' it. So, it obviously is having a greater problem than I can fix. But I do have another one that I could use for parts-it's out of service because the threads don't hold onto my atomizer anymore-I must've been too rough with it or something. Can you think of anything I could try to do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You can fix the rattling buttons by using some sort of rubber cement or I used clear seelant. Sparingly apply it to the under edges of the buttons. once dry, they will not rattle but will still function perfectly.

I have 2 isticks and the brand new one I bought is giving me problems. Does the center pin come all the way out? Was working great then I put on the ego adapter and it wasnt making contact. I pulled the pin slightly up and it works but is giving me unnacurate ohms readings. After I put on a nautilus mini, it read a 1.8 coil as 2.0, even new ones. Then I put the adapter on and it wouldnt make contact again so I had to pull the pin up again. I dont want to keep doing this. Can I fix it? Can I exchange it? My other one works great.
@robreed2024
9 жыл бұрын
Take your istick apart (as shown in video) and check your 510 connection, chances are the white sikaflex/silicone adhesive substance has come away. After ensuring your pin is insulated sufficiently,cut a rubberband to length (trial and error for length required) and from the outside of your 510 connection basically stuff the rubberband under the top of the 510 connection.This will act as a stopper, and your 510 connection will no longer try to retreat back into your device like a flaccid penis on a cold winters morning. I'm aware these instructions seem vague, however if you take your device apart (using the excellent instructions supplied in video) and take a GOOD LOOK at your device/510 connection, it should make things a little clearer. P.S. looking at the 510 connection from outside device, the pin is somewhat mushroom shaped, the rubberband needs to go under the top of the mushroom so to speak.
