Hi Lee,brilliant video as usual.I love that 37 and the sound is very realistic but I am bias because I used to repair the diesel engines in the 80's usualy rk ruston engines so i do know what they sound like.I have also been to vulcan works where they used to build them at Newton-Le-Willows,a fantastic engineering works. I like the steam engine as well it looks great.I'm sure gary would love to detail those caridges for you.cheers Lee,seasons greetings to you all.Just a thought Lee,I used to see alaot of the class 08 0-6-0 diesel shunters around then as well.

Hello Alan, firstly thanks as always for watching and giving your support, it really is appreciated. If there is anyone I know, that could talk and advise me on diesels, it would be you. The thought of repairing and starting a ruston (cold start especially) must've been amazing. That chugging tapping and rattling noise that eventually starts and runs with the smell must've been unbelievable. Glad you like the king class steam engine and I still recall our conversation when you mentioned seeing steam locos crossing the arches at the back Watney Street. Gary would do a brilliant job on weathering the coaches and I think you'd agree, they are in much need of it. It's so nice to hear the 37 start up and rattle off, it's something I've been looking to achieve for quite some time and I think the splash of weathering to it, all accumulate nicely. Have a really lovely festive season and all the best as always. Lee

Hi Lee, canopies mate, I think you should have some. Not to cover the whole platform but how about a couple of short ones’s at the bottom of the stairs, sorry I like a canopy, lol! It was funny the other day you came to mind as I passed through Upminster station. (I actually live on the Liverpool Street line but engineering work forced me on the Fenchurch Street line) I saw the signal box and immediately thought of your model, it’s good work Lee and I look forward to the enhancements to it. The King class is a fantastic loco, I like a steamer, diesels too, I really like the crossover period when BR changed from steam to diesels so you can have both! 37 sounds great too I have a Loksound chip in my class 50, it’s brilliant. Don’t be pushed into anything you don’t want to ( I know you won’t), it is a hobby and should be enjoyed and not become a chore. I love the comments to mate! Happy Christmas to you and your family, cheers Lee, John

Hello John. I think maybe we've come up with something here because you said a short canopy from the stairwells, and I was thinking of removable ones, but I do have to agree with you, you do need canopies and its Upminster after all. That was nice thinking of me going through Upminster and seeing the signal box, I hope I've done it justice. John, you ain't that far from me (I don't think) and in the new year, I've decided to do no more weekend work, so hopefully we'll have a meet up and a coffee. I'll hopefully be going to more shows too. The signal box is coming along well now so glad you like it and this 37 chip mate, honestly, the video sounds okay, but it really does sound good mate when you hear it. I thought you'd like the king. There's just something so nice about it and it has the standard fitted sound decoder. John, I've got a couple of your vids I need to catch up on, so will do mate. Hi Charlie, thanks for those kind comments, really glad you like it. The underground signs are just cropped from internet images and printed on photo paper, then carefully cut out. I've had a few comments on the catenary, and believe it or not, they were a cheap laser cut kit off ebay. I had to trim the height and width to fit the station, them primed them in grey. torri_laser is the seller on ebay and the cost £7.80 for 4 of them. Hope this helps? Best regards, Lee

Hello Mark. I would love to meet up and have a coffee, that would definitely be one I would put in the calendar for the new year, and although I mentioned work on my video, I didn't mention that I've decided not to work no more weekends in the new year, so I'll be more free to meet. I've got some plans for next year, with regards to getting a D Stock or 2, but it would mean getting someone to 3d print them, and although it'll be expensive, I simply have to have one. With that in mind, I have actually considered the S stock. Expensive as they are, it'll be a district line and Upminster isn't Upminster without the district line. I knew you'd be the one to confirm and put me right on ownership of Upminster and why there are no roundels on the platform except on the signal box. This district line has been really playing on mind since starting Upminster and (although this is going to be expensive, either way), I just have to have it. Mark, thanks as always buddy, I really look forward to hearing from you everytime I post a video, and this certainly is no exception. Take care my friend, all the best and best Christmas and new year wishes from the opposite site end of the line. Lee

Hi Lee, another great video. I really enjoy them when they are uploaded. Don't worry about getting videos out there, it's a hobby, not a job. If you feel forced to put videos up, the videos won't be the same. Stay true to yourself and keep up the good work. You are right about adding canopies, it will block a lot of the view, but you could always have removal canopies, when the trains are running. Detail is still looking good. Nice to see trains running too. Merry Christmas and looking forward for more great video in the future.

Nice one, Lee. Everyone needs one kettle on their layout as rail tours happen on the big railway. The 'chuff' rate seems about right as well. Totally agree about the canopies. You've made a great effort to build the platforms and covering them under full canopies would cover that. Think you're right on the number of vids you do. If you do too many, it becomes a task. You do them as and when you want mate. All the best and look forward to your updates.

Rail tours ay? That was actually my biggest excuse to buy a kettle! Haha 😄. I kind of sent it off up the track too fast (haven't got used to the cv setting compared to my diesels), but yeah, the chuff rate is about right I would've thought, and I say that because I have really little knowledge on steam. But glad you like it, I just couldn't help meself. I might make canopies, but do them removable for when I run trains, what do you reckon? Thanks for supporting me on the video quantities, it means a lot and thanks for understanding. I hope you have a really lovely Christmas and new year and thanks again. Best regards, Lee

Definitely an unexpected purchase, it’s nice to see something different, I would recommend looking at what other people have done with Lima coaches as I have seen how well they can tart up. Hi Harry, always a great pleasure hearing from you my friend. I'm totally with you on the signal box, I really think it needs those external wires and cables run around it to finish it off and add interest too. The blind would also look great, thanks for that. I've looked at Lima coaches on KZitem for advancing them, and surprisingly there isn't much at all. I think the airbrush will work wonders and some detailing. I'm so glad you like the wargaming terrain because I was so hesitant to put it in the video as it's not trains and yet so many people have commented on it. Thanks for all the support you have given me this year Harry, and I can honestly say, that without your help and going the extra mile with your emails, the station couldn't look as good (accurate) as it does. Hi Kev, Yes I got steamer! Lol! And... knew you'd approve too, as you have some lovely steamers, and although I don't know much about steamers, I know they have a beautiful elegance about them and are just so interesting. So, although I model 1987, and GWR would never have run near Upminster as it would've been LMS, I just could help falling for the king class and that lovely chocolate and cream coach livery. The sound decoder came fitted from the factory, so I assume its a Hornby. Either way, I am really pleased with it. Glad you like it Kev and the coaches too, although I think a slight weathering would help. As for the 37, the Loksound really is amazing and reliable too. I think I might make the canopies, but have them removable for running sessions. Looking forward to meeting up Kev in the new year and I wish you and family a lovers Christmas and new year. Hello Lee, good to see you again. The signal box looks really fab with its big windows, but not sure what the footbridge will bring to the layout. Is it there at the real station? You already have an excellent one at the other end, the open view to the East from the town end is very pleasing and I wonder whether the signaller would be able to see through it to check the rear of each passing Eastbound train for completeness. Am I taking this too seriously, I wonder? It is because I get drawn in by your model which gets more real every time. Finally, don’t make the mistake of putting out more videos than you need to cover what there is to show and tell us about. Nothing is more likely to put viewers off, imo. Anyway, that’s my two penn’orth. Merry Christmas and happy New Year. PS nothing beats the Series 1 Class 37! Cheers for now, Mike.

I'll mock one up and see how it stands. I don't think you get too deep into it at all, I think it's an absolute honour that get into the model and apprecite it on such a scale. I agree that the opening view from the town to the east doe's look really pleasing and it's not something I often do, so might have to include that more often. So to see you sometimes be brave enough to scrap work that has taken so long is also not an inspiration.
