I am from Assam. But the amount of traditional food and aricles of interest from Assam you have shown and enjoyed is astonishing and mind boggling. Even though I am from an upper Assam village, have never tasted so many varieties of vegetables, herbs and styles of cooking. Good that you have shown them through your channel. Loved it immensely. Thank you.
I’m Singpho from Myanmar we’re known here as Kachin and in China’s Yunan and Sichuan provinces it’s spelled as Jinghpo. Our food is underrated in the world. I’d love to meet some Singpho people from there.

Khar is homemade alkali. Because, the usual alluvial soil of Assam (i.e. Brahmaputra Valley) is slightly acidic, we add homemade alkali to our food from time to time with a thought to maintain proper pH balance. I don't know how effective that is scientifically, but we have been eating and using Khar for as long as there has been Assam. Apologies if someone has already mentioned it. And, feel free to correct if I've made some error.
@bhaskartsk

Borah dangoria I am also a khar khowa assamese, didn't thought about acid alkali balance before. The scientific explanation that you have given regarding ph balance is very convincing.
@pranoykishore
4 жыл бұрын
@R. M.S Agree. But, blood pH buffer only comes into play incase of molecular mechanism and biochemical reactions where blood i.e the body fluid (intracellular as well as extracellular), is the medium. Acidic and alkaline diet has other implications in dietary terms. Such as indigestion, acidity, etc. Blood pH buffer has no function whatsoever in maintaining the pH balance of the inner lining of the gut at the macromolecular level.

Sir I live in New Delhi but I belong to Ledo which is about a half an hour drive from Margherita towards Arunachal Pradesh. I came across your channel while searching for Assam tour videos as I have been missing my native place during this lockdown period. The instant I saw you in your videos having traditional dishes of Assam, I could literally make a connect with you. Even my 10 year old son is a big fan of yours and me, my wife and son have really liked your videos. What makes you stand apart from other travel vloggers is your simplicity, your jovial nature, open-minded attitude due to which I believe you are able to make an instant connect with people. We really loved the way you have embraced and portrayed the tradition and culture of Assam which is still unknown to so many people who do not belong to the North-East. Infact, the expression on your face "UMMMM" after you have a nibble or a portion of a meal is simply what I always look forward to. I must say that I have faced many uncomfortable, strange and weird questions about my state and the region I belong to due to so many misconceptions people have about Assam and North-east but I hope that through your videos people get to know more about the diverse and deep rooted culture of Assam and North East and break the misconceptions and stereotypes in their mind. Thanks and wish you many more years of successful travel vlogging With warm regards, Ankur
